Looking so good, Bob. How much more are you hoping to do to them before the convention?

Thanks Andre, I'm not going to be able to get anymore done. Too much packing to do. Big Boy is coming to town. I'll be spending Tuesday Wednesday chasing Her. Then it's off to Carson City early Thursday.

Bob, these are "sister" engines with the only difference being the axle diameters?
Enjoy your visit with the Big Boy be nice to see it in person.

Phil, Yes, they are meant to be twins, built on the same order. The only different is the drivers axles. That's because I could only get 3 sets from Greenways. At the time money was a bot tighter and the drivers were $18 a set. The 1/8" axle are Romford drivers (they don't have counter weights yet) 14mm. They are much more affordable. They also have 3mm axles available. In hindsight I should of gotten them as the smaller axles just seen to fit in better mechanically. Anyway, I am trying to mirror the V&T's buying practices. But with a modest 2 pairs of engines. The V&T bought 3 runs of moguls. the first two had Wagon Top boilers, the third had flat or horizontal boilers. The V&T often teamed one of the Horizontal boilered engine with an older Wagon Top Engine. I plan to do the same with a pair of MEW Tahoe engines (which are models of V&T Flat boiler mogul #20).
That's the plan..

Thanks,Bob, who built the V&T’s engines? Was wondering if they had bought any Mason engines but I checked my Mason book and there is no reference in the index for the V&T. Then again Mason was famous for his Americans and for his Mason Bogies. Saw no mention of any moguls. |

Phil, they were Baldwins. I THINK Mason was working for them still. All the V&T moguls were built from 69 to 76. I think Mason went on his own just after that.
