Yes indeed! What fun that will be to see if any visitors recognize it. Looking forward to the progress.

downtown Mayberry

For the record, I'm not building Mayberry. I have a barbershop, a two chair shop, something Floyd only had briefly. And the town's not big enough for two barbershops.

The part the houses Floyd's and the TV repair shop will be some other kind of shop, though I'm not sure what yet. For one, I can not figure out how anyone entered the TV shop. Unless it was through the grocery. I know the door into Floyd's opens to the left, against a solid wall. [:-boggled]

Anyway, the main wall is bricked and waiting for paint.

Was out of the loop a few days Fred, as my wife was in the hospital.
Came home yesterday evening. Any way, I like this build Fred, Are those your paper bricks? they look cool in an unusual way, maybe it's the color. Nice work as always from you Fred'..

Yes, Ted, orange construction paper. That's not the final color, they will be painted brick. It'll look a lot different.

Yes sir, I like it!

Any special reason you changed the 2nd story windows shape to a bit more square than in the original pix?

Or, are you just having fun?

No, no special reason, Carl. I guess I just didn't put much thought into it.

From the street Mayberry looks real good, but from the backside not so good. Check out the lower right corner of the top picture.

Oops, City Hall doesn't have a roof.

Im not sure movie sets require architectural logic. However, its possible that behind the street door is a little vestibule-lobby with doors to the individual stores and maybe a third one to offices and apartments on upper levels.

Good job on your construction.

Mike

Mike, this is what's behind door number 2.

Amazing what a little paint will do.

And the left side wall is bricked and painted.

None of the parts are glued together yet. I won't do that until after windows and doors are installed. I still have to determine how much of the shop interiors I will have. And, of course there's the right side wall yet to do. And roofs......
