Bob The third image is perfect. Up close and personal as they say.
Dave Impressed with your close up techniques. Nice crisp images.

Some not really wildlife from the backyard again, some finches on our backyard feeder. Watching them there doesn't seem to be much drama, one is feeding, another zooms in and takes its place. But through taking photos I've been able to see those feeding don't seem to depart willingly! They are more or less "bullied" off the perches by the intruders. It happens so fast that their antics aren't noticed unless photographed at high shutter speeds:

There really does seem to be a 'pecking order' at the feeder... |

There is definitely a pecking order. I have a "small birds" feeder outside my office door, and I see it every day. Usually Gold finches go after the nyger seed, and suddenly a black-capped chicadee appears, and the chasing begins. Fun to watch.

Visit to Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara falls. The first guy was on the fellows hat and the other flew right over and so the shadow was captured as well.

It looks like we are going to the birds!
This guy was more of a captive audience! I took it at a local zoo and I have no idea what kind of bird this is. I liked the way the background complemented the birds color. |

I thought this was a phoney picture; except that my wife took it. This dragonfly looks like some cheap toy.

| John, it looks like it has one large eye on top of its head, one of mother natures defense mechanisms at work. Pat |

Obviously it's time to take down the bird feeders; or start claim these birds as dependents on our income tax forms

John,
Are they starlings, grackles, or something else? We had a flock of grackles cleaning our bird feeders out about a week ago. They disappeared as the tropical storm approached, and I haven't seen them back since. |
