The 4th is my German Shepard\Malamute mix that won't hold still for a decent picture...

No visible animal life, but plenty of plant life. Taken from the bridge over Lucas Creek in Newport News, VA Last week. George W.

Our neighbor was walking her dog and heard a little sound coming from some brush just off the roadway. She found this little fawn unhurt near her mother that had been killed when hit by a car.
We contacted a wildlike rehab center not too far away and they took it. Hopefully it has grown healthy and running wild!!
Here is my wife holding the fawn with my dad looking on.

Wonderful story, Andy. Thanks for doing the "right" thing by making sure this fawn did not die. As a homeless man once told me, "A man that's not kind to animals ain't worth knowin'" So, your "worth knowing".  Danny |

Hi Guys & Girls
Well summer has come to an end and we've been busy preparing our meadows for three new lawnmowers. Their names are Jesse, Buba and Ginger. We have had the opportunity to rescue three horses, two Belgiums and one Pergeron. The large Belgium Ginger, came from a home whose owner had a horific tractor accident and is no longer able to take care of her. The other two were abandoned by the owner and were almost starved to death. They have a ways to go but they are making gains every day. As you can see by the pictures they had enough energy to forage around in the burdocks before coming to our meadow last week. It is really neat having them around.
A subtext to this whole adventure was the way in which Ginger arrived here on Sunday. She is terrified of going into a trailer as we verified on Thursday. First round went to Ginger. She broke the lead line and walked to the other side of the meadow . Round two went to Ginger also. We walked her over the moutain; 12 miles and 7 hours later she was a bit frightened but now seems to be content. The three have become a herd and seem quite happy.

Sorry, but my affinity for white-tail deer went with the entire yard's worth of landscaping 3 of them wiped out in a single day this summer. Now I have dreams of "Bambi-burgers" and "Rudolph Roasts". Deer herd here (Fairfax County, VA) is way out of control, there are no natural predators, and the combination of the woods/parks and all that yummy landscaping, along with no hunting, has the "Agent Orange on the hoof" out of control.
