There is a thread around here somewhere on the trees. Really isn't much to it, just use the smaller stuff (Fine, medium and coarse) and stay away from things like the clump foliage (which to me doesn't look good in any scale) and spray whatever you are applying the foliage to (polyfiber fill, cotton batting, aquarium filter glass wool, ect.) a flat black or dark brown.

Is there a forum you guys go to for discussing any N scale items, or do you just jump in somewhere? Planning on a waterfront I have been trying to find some decent looking boats and/or ships and some seagulls and pelicans. I found a place in the U.K. called Langley Models that has N scale seagulls for any one interested. The scale is 1/148 but should be close enough (I'll just say they're eating well). They also have a nice selection of boats and ships among other items. I ordered a fishing trawler (I think it is an Aritec model). Haven't seen one of these in person but the photos look cleaner and more detailed than some others I've seen. Has anyone had any experience with these or this merchandise? Does anyone know who may supply N scale pelicans? Living on the Gulf Coast a waterfront scene is not complete without gulls, terns and brown pelicans.

Rhett across the top of the page right above the first thread is a long gray box. The first thing on the left is "New Topic". Just click on that and you will be starting a new thread in the small scale forum. You might want to title it "N scale boats and birds" or something like that. I don't do seaports so I'm no help there although I have heard good comments about Aritec.

I might have a stroke trying to do that level of intricate trackage!! Very well done! Beautiful!

I'm going with good 'ol Atlas code 80 and Peco turnouts. I've got miles of the stuff, and I'm on a real shoestring budget! :(
I need to concentrate my limited resources on other priorities, like structures and DCC/sound!

I really like the look of the Atlas code 55, but I'll be staying with my Unitrack for the time being; I have a lot of it, and it works...

Atlas code 80 is a lot like my wife, too old style, too big, and yet I stick with it anyway. With my eyes I wouldn't know what to do with the newer models.

My first post here..

I built my N scale layout in the mid 90's and at that time in my opinion Shinohara code 60 looked the most prototypical so I used it for the entire layout. The tie spacing is too wide but it does look like secondary line track, which was my goal.

Shinohara code 60 is no longer available so today I would probably use Atlas code 55 and ME code 40.
