It always amazes me at how much stuff is crammed into the little yellow boxes that George uses for his kits - they are packed so carefully and even so there is room for this one wad of newsprint - all his boxes have one - I opened the box and removed some of the parts to inspect everything and I cannot get the lid back on - without the wad! - oh, well, guess I might as well just build the beast. I cannot find another complete build of this kit - there is some discussion on the fine scale website and a small starter thread here but nothing else - I always wanted to do this one and when KP (Kris) offered one for sale recently I sprang at the opportunity to own one. I dedicate this build to him - he has seen a good deal of strife lately and maybe in some small way this build will help him recover more quickly. The obligatory first shot!

Elliott,
I too have been wanting to build this one, along with a few others in the series. Due to lack of room at my present location, I had been putting it and many others, off. But, happy days are coming, as we are due to close on a new house mid August. I'll not only have a game room all to myself, but 2 weight rooms and a wood shop in the 3rd car garage.
So, I am going to keep an eye on your build.
Good luck,
Tony B.

This will be great fun to watch Elliott!
Just keep an eye out for those "Houligan's" in the alley.

What a nice gesture, Elliott! The support on these forums often extends beyond modeling and this is a fantastic example of that. I know this will be a terrific build and one that will certainly give a boost to KP's spirits.

I see my pep talk helped. You've got new projects and threads popping up all over the place. I liked this kit a lot, and wished I had built it after Dexters and Butchers Way, but then got on the logging kick. I know this will be fabulous, and it cries out for a dozen or more of your patented mini-scenes.

Funny, I was wondering the other day when someone will start a FSM kit again.

I'm in for the ride.

Regards
Wes.

This should be fun to watch, Elliott. As is often the case, this kit is on one of my shelves.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the new build - and Karl, I am not as agile as you or I would be done by now - lolol - I will plod along as best I can - here is the first project - the woodworking company - it is a stucco covered brick edifice with some typical George type nooks and crannies - off to paint the walls and windows and start the curing process - see ya in a couple of days. I believe photocredit should go to Rich Josselyn - I found the photos on the web.

This is going to be great to follow along, and I'm very happy that you are the builder of this great kit. I know that you will take the kit to an outstanding level of craftsmanship.

I must express that I am more than humbled that you have dedicated the build to me. You Mr. E, know more then most folks, how much this means to me and yes, my spirits will be lifted every day I look at and each time I think about this thread. I can't wait to see what kind of mini-scenes you come up with for this "beast".

So… let me ‘crack the whip’ and get this build going!!

Well, Kris, that was a real loud crack and here are the results - the first finished wall on the stucco building - the original pic was taken in sunlight and that changed the color of the walls somewhat - the color shown on my wall is closer to the correct color although my wall is a more earthier color than George calls for. And the process is a study in faith - the steps produce a real ugly wall to start with and only after massaging the thing do you get anything worth showing - stucco is not easy, period! Fortunately there is enought stuff hung on this one to cover a lot of the mess. I'll paint the knobs and weather the door a little later.

Elliott,

This kit is a good one and I know you will enjoy this build. Perhaps this link to the build Jim and I did will help.
