It's been many moons since I've actually built a structure, and those were either in HO or N. This is an S scale Downtown Deco station that I raised the roof a little and added an O scale Grandt door.

Still a bit of work to do, but I like it so far! |

Thanks, Andy. To me, the size of the stones and windows made it a natural for the conversion to O.
I have just started on the same station in HO. If nothing else, just to compare the 2 sizes! |

| Very nice, Chuck. I thought you had some projects in S scale. Did you decide to change for O? |

I pretty much followed the instructions, except that I used a couple of different colors.
After the 4 walls were glued together, I sprayed a cheap coat of white paint. When that was completely dry, I applied a thin wash of burnt umber. Then I used a piece of steel wool and wiped the structure to give a bit of a buff finish. After that, I highlighted the individual stones using various shades of brown, black, etc. I used what I thought would look right. I then finished it off with a wash of alcohol and India ink.
Pretty simple! |

Frederic, I did originally build this for use on an Sn3 layout that I had planned on building. For some reason, O just had more of an appeal for me.
After all of that, it looks like my layout will end up being standard gauge!
Sometimes it's hard to figure this stuff out... |

| Very nice structure, Chuck...the stone finish is very convincing and adds so much character. O, S, whatever...it's all good! |
