A friend of mine lost his dad last week and is looking to sell his dad's railroad collection of HO trains. Some of it is Brass.
Anyone know of collectors in the NE area that buys
entire collections?
Thanks in advance.
I may have some photos in the next week or two.

Bill,
I'd suggest asking Dave Frary (around the corner from you) if he has any information or connections.
As you probably know, HO "collections" just aren't worth very much, except for the brass.
The other option is using an e-bay consignment shop.
This is just one of them on the Cape http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=capecodonlineconsignments

Dave your first quote is one of my favorites, but it was from Dwight Eisenhowers innauguration speech in 1953.

Jim, you're right, don't know how I missed that and of course the second quote isn't Jefferson's either.
Off to fix those now.

Your friend could contact the Hobby Gallery in Wolcott, CT. I believe they still obtain collections. The brass could be handled by "The Caboose" also in Wolcott. The address and number for the Hobby Gallery is 1810 Meriden Road Wolcott, CT 06716, (203) 879-2316

It is a sad situation to be in, but good luck to him in the dispersal of his father's collection.

My thoughts exactly. Steve Magnani at the Hobby Gallery and Armand Mazetti at The Caboose have good reputations, work well together, are easy to deal with and would make a good starting point.

Best wishes and good luck.
