It's taking me a lot longer than expected to work on the photos we took on our Alaskan Cruise. But, here's a teaser. This is a shot of the steam locomotive (2-8-0) as we head back down the mountian from White Pass and the Canadian border. Iwas standing on the last car's rear platform most of the way down so I got some real nice shots especially on the curves.

I'll post the rest of the photos in the Photo secion of the Forums once I get them cleaned up.

OK, I fibbed, here's one of us going up over the wooden trestle and into the tunnel portal. This was shot through the window of the last car.

OK, one more. Here is the tunnel portal as we pass over the wooden tressle heading down from White Pass. This was shot from the rear platform of the last car and yes, I did ride the platform through the tunnels.

Understand we were up pretty high and that's not just the smoke from the loco but also clouds.[:-bigeyes]

Walt I will be following along. I have taken the trip twice and posted a thread a couple of year ago. The pictures never get old.

You got very nice color, thanks in part to the clouds that provided even lighting.

Lucky you geting behind the steam powered train! The steam train was the one ahead of ours, which was hauled by a pair of shovel nosed diesels. Due to time constraints of the cruise ship, we were not offered a chance on the stream trip. I made the whole trip up and back standing in the vestibule of the last car, got a bunch of neat shots and video, although it was a cloudy day.

We had a cloudy day too, must be the way Skagway is. I remember going over the trestle and looking down--it was a long way....

Understand, I shot these photos with a Nikon D5000 and a Nikon 55-300 MM telephoto lens. the camera was set on High resolution so these photos are 8-13MB each in size. Lots of detail and color there.

We've got our youngest son visiting this weekend so I'm limited on time to work on these photos but I'll get back to them next week if the orders should let up any.

Thanks for the kind comments but it's more than the overcast day. I'll prove that with some sunny day photos.

Now that's a trip I would love to make some day. And to be able to ride that train? That would make my day. I can't wait to see the other pics.
