I did a forum search here but found nothing. Has anyone got any ideas on getting the track to conform to a radius long enough to work with it? I ordered an alignment gauge by RibbonRail but it is only about 4" long and it's taking forever to lay track in this "tight" corner of my layout.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated... Bob |

Bob,
What is your sub-roadbed? When working on plywood, I draw my curve on the wood, and begin bending the track to the curve, placing small wood screws with washers between the ties at necessary intervals to hold it in place.
This photo shows that approach.
When working on cork or foam, I use the trusty T-Pins.

Some guys there might have other ideas on curving the track, too.

Thanks, Bruce... my subroadbed is foam (Plywood under that... but that's no help) I guess I'll just have to "glue and pin" 4 inches at a time. The area I'm having problems with is in a tight corner and I'm 74 and have Spinal Stenosis... so it's kinda a Catch 22 situation!
I'll get 'er done, anyway... Thanks again.

On cork or even plywood, I like to use thumbtacks as you can test run cars and engines over them to ensure proper operation.
T pins best for foam. |
