I'm wondering which aspect of this hobby most of you forumites find yourself. Are you primarily a collector? A modeler? A runner with a layout? Which gauge are you into? 3-rail O? 2-rail O? HO? N? Z? If you're a 3-railer, what are you into? Tinplate? Prewar? Modern era? Scale or semiscale? Which manufacturers do you prefer? Williams, Atlas, Lionel, MTH? Steam era, electric, desiel? Asking all this because I'm primarily a 3-rail O gauger and wondering how many fellow O gauge 3-railers are regular followers and contributers to this forum or whether I should move on to another forum with more 3-railers. Let's hear from you if you're into 3-ral O gauge. |

Luva, I suspect you won't find too many 3 railers here. I model On30 but don't recall reading much from the 3 rail side. Of course you're still welcome here as we have a lot of O scale narrow gauge modelers and many scratch and kit builders.

I'm into HO and HOn3. Building models (mostly scratch built) and placing them in realistic scenes is more important to me right now than operations. That might change with time.

On30 modeler here. Got a nice stack of kits sitting on the self and haven't done much modeling lately so I guess for right now I'll label myself a kit collector.
As has been already mentioned, there isn't a lot of activity here for O scale 3 rail, but maybe if you start posting some threads with pictures of things you've built or are building it just might attract some 3 rail lurkers out of the shadows and join you. Also, it would be nice to address you by your name. |

After trying to model in N and HO I decided to sell my N and return to HO full time.
I have and always will favor car card/waybill industrial switching operation on small Industrial Switching Layout(ISL) over everything else the hobby has to offer.
I prefer small ISLs because they can be up and running in 8 hours.I can completely finish these layouts at leisure over a few weeks.

| HO mostly--I do still have my Lionel collection from when I was a kid, but I am not really into Lionel. I enjoy all aspects fo teh hobby. I don;t consider myself a collector, but I have more stuff than many hobby shops. |

On30 (and HO but that is dormant at the moment because of geographical pressures), but I am mostly into building structures and scenery. Running the trains is a wee bit less of an interest to me (but that is possibly because I am limited to very small layouts).
There don't seem to be that many O scale standard gauge modellers on this forum, and even fewer 3-rail modellers, but I'd encourage you to stick around for all the structure building and scenery ideas - this forum has heaps and heaps of ideas that don't relate to the track |
Built a waterfront HO layout in Ireland http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22161 but now making a start in On30 in Australia |

1:87, 1:48-interested. I enjoy building structures as a creative outlet, escape, release. No trains or layout.

| HO Scale...I have a layout, but it is collecting dust.... more into building scratchbuilt structures and dioramas, primarily based on real structures of the past. Favorite era: 1960's ...favorite location: Appalachian. |

I model HO mostly, but do a very small amount in N and O I love the electronic funciton, sound etc of DCC and electronics, but also like building Kits and am starting some scratch, both wood and plastic. I also do OP's once a month, so I guess that is an all around answer.

I model in HO scale, but having endlessly dreamed over some ancient Lionel catalogs as a kid I couldn't resist buying myself these when I grew up--

Sure wish I could afford one of these--
