A little local flavour on this Father's Day. This train is the Ottawa Central coming down from Hawksbury to Glen Robertson in Eastern Ontario on my friend, Bill Meek's layout.

A lovely Eastern Ontario farm scene near the same location. Happy Father's Day everyone! [:-apple]

All the best, Mike Hamer

A cool view from Bill's layout where the two trains travel above and below each other. The lower train is arriving Glen Robertson and the upper train is arriving Hawksbury.

Here are this week's completed cars!

This is an Atlas 2003CF PS Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat Maintenance of Way Gray Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals.

This is an Atlas Kaolin Tank Car Kit, Painted white and lettered with Islington Station Products Decals.

This is an Accurail 4600CF ACF Covered Hopper Kit. Removed the cast on roofwalk and replaced with a Plano roofwalk kit, also added the walkover platforms, airlines from the air reservoir to the triple valve and trailine under the side sill. Painted with Scalecoat Maintenance of Way Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals.

Thanks for looking!

I know its your railroad, you make the rules etc. etc. etc, no disrespect, but I have always wondered why all of your train photo's have a glaring obvious yellow tinted look to them? I want to see your work as it should be seen.

Here's another set of custom DRI LINE equipment. The transfer caboose was scratchbuilt and the caboose and loco were all custom painted and decaled. The loco is a Proto 2000 with sound.

I need to weather the truck up. It's way too clean.

Thanks Ray, from last Sunday.
Lest people get the impression I am in need of trains....

The San Ricardo branchline has lots to do at the yard.

Long into the night.

Caught the L&IN daily train rounding the curve with a couple of GP35's in the lead just before crossing Indiana State Highway 17.

My nine year old son Theo has been working on his first car and it is now ready for the paint shop.

Starting with an undecorated Branchline AAR 1937 Yardmaster kit, we (I've helped with some of the sharp stuff or things requiring CA to attach) replaced the roofwalks with Kadee Apex ones, new brake wheel, modified the trucks and put Kadee brake beams in. Drilled and put the eyebolts in for coupler lift bars, replaced the end grab irons and installed #58 Kadees, drilling and tapping the coupler boxes and truck king pins for 2-56 screws.

The car is having the trucks and couplers removed tomorrow and hits the paint shop where Theo will use my airbrush to paint it box car brown. Lettering to follow afterwards and then back on the rails.

He's quite proud of his build so far, so is Dad!

A couple of weeks ago, I caught this set of L&IN GP35's sitting quietly at Logansport. The all gray unit was later moved out and replaced by an all maroon unit with a gray nose. Just another variation to the all maroon paint scheme.

Kevin. Yeah, she dropped a piston! Ya know these GP35's are basically junk but we were able to get several of them plus there's lots of parts available to keep them running. Can't pull worth a darn though. We use two most of the time in case one takes a dump while on a run. Our trains often aren't long enough to warrant two GP35's but two pull better than one. :o)

Phil you should be proud of Theo. Great looking build for a nine year old. You are very fortunate to have a son in the hobby with you. I am also fortunate to have my son Neil still with me. He is 41 and I am 71
