Hi Bill
Is there an easy way to change the trucks? Have tried bashing Atlas to the Bachmann w/ limited success.

Most truck side frames usually just clip in. They are held in place by the bottom clip on the truck which fits on a pin holding the side frame. You can get side frames from several places including brass ones.

do the Bachman side handrail castings fit the Atlas units ?
the Proto railings are a bit shorter due to the S-1/3s being shorter than S-2/4s.
been after Atlas to UPGRADE the Railings since last century with zilch results.
S-2 vs S-4:
S-4s use Sealed Windows.
S-2s use regular style windows.
S-2s are mainly Rivited bodies.
S-4s are Welded bodies[some late S-2s also,but not as complete as S-4s]
later S-4s have different carbody filters, few or no body louvers.
late S-4s have the "Lip" at the end of the hood.
late S-4s have round Fan Housings.
these are "As Built" differances,30 year old+ units can be hard to figure out.
the Proto S-3 has this lack of Welded Body Problem also.

Here's a link to mine in a test video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgm14flpoYQ
Clearly I need to use a tripod and not handhold. And that particular camera can't handle moving things in the foreground, or at least as close as those are. The cars are all 40 footers, mostly Athearn and a smattering of others. Since that was taken I've added another SP GP40X and a non-sound S-4. I've added a Soundtraxx MC2 decoder to the other S-4, it more or less plug and played into the plug on the board. It needed some CV2, CV5, and CV6 adjustments to match.

BTW The sound Tsunami decoders in the Bachman engines are some of the very few sound Tsunami decoders that CV5 and CV6. Makes it real easy to speed match them with other engines.

Don't push me bureaucrat, I've got a bit of hangover
