I wanted a central location to store all my bottles of scenic material. I have around 30-40 of them and they are spread out all over the place.

It occurred to me that I could buy a bookcase and that might work. Cheapest one was a WalMart special for 20 bucks that was only 9 inches wide.

Joan suggested that we go to yard sales this morning (Yuck)...but lo and behold...we found this 36 x 32 x 12 inch bookcase for 10 bucks.

Good find, John! Just be a bit aware of shelf loading, if you put too much weight on those shelves they might sag or the metal shelf hangers might pull out.

Nice find. I go 'yard saling' with the wife with the the intention of picking up something I can store my model kits and building kits on. I have several I found for 5 bucks or less that are doing the job.

I you want to avoid the sagging issue simply install a support bar under each shelf and tie it into the sides. I put it in the back of the shelf next to the back wall on edge. I used a piece of Poplar on each but you can use plywood or whats handy. If your going to use it long term then use wood glue and glue it in as well as screwing it in.

Great find John. Also, my other half used to go on-line to "free-cycle" or "Craigslist" to find items for me to stash stuff in/on. So if you are not into doing the 'yard-sale' thing, you may be able to locate something of use on-line. But you know, those 'yard-sales' can sometimes generate some great model kits and stuff to boot.

It worked out pretty swell. I put 58 32-ounce shaker bottles and 9 64-ounce bottles in it; with room to spare.
