The Aberfoyle Junction, the great O scale layout near Guelph, Ont., had its last open house May 12-13. The layout, which represents southern Ontario in the 1950s, is going to be taken apart and reassembled in the nearby town of St. Jacobs--a process that could take 18 months to two years.

I've posted some photos on my blog from the last weekend's open house at http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.ca/2012/05/last-look-at-aberfoyle-junction.html

If you couldn't be there, or haven't seen the layout in person, I can guarantee that you will be impressed.

I can appreciate the amount of dedication that has been devoted to this layout.

I sincerly wish them luck, relocating with minimal damage, especially to track sections.

Oh boy St Jacobs is 20 minutes from my Parents house. Now I will have to go home and visit. I am glad the RR could be saved but I am sure it is a lot of work to get it moved.

John:
Do you have the exact location for the new layout??
I have been working in St. Jacobs so would like to check out the new location. Or will it be in the mill with the current HO layout?

It's a building near to and across the street from the old mill, I believe. It's not right on the street, if I recall correctly.

Thanks, John, for sharing the pics of this incredible layout. I visited it once and was amazed at the detail in the interiors of the dining passenger car...right down to plates, cutlery and flowers in their vases! All the best to their team as they dismantle and rebuild this marvel. [:-thumbu][:-thumbu]
