I asked bout HO scale sides (see "Where's The (HO Scale) Beef (Sides)?") of beef, but now that i got them, it's tiime to show you, still under construction, my HO scale scratchbuilt E. L. & P. Meat Corp meat packing plant; I got a long way to go though, wioth more parts and detailing needed, as my layout, The Neo Capernaum R.R., is under construction since 1981. I need scale figures of butcher staff and electrical conduit detailing and building details, boxes, and some brass details to make the hooks and the overhead rollin rack for the sides of beef.
The building, where the elevated mainline runs over, was built of Evergreen styrene plastic, a Walthers cooling chiller machine for buildings and some detailed parts shaped like packing boxes as well; got a long way to go.
Photos coming later. |

Yup. I did that as an homage to the legendary classic rock band, which I grew up listening to. |

I didn't know you were into Emerson, Lake & Palmer, however, of the many advertising posters, I pasted on the sides of the buildings, I got one poster advertisting a bit of E.L.& P. trivia you may had never known; in the early 1970s, the trio did a concert film titled Rock & Roll Your Eyes.
Seriously though, getting back to topic, I may get some styrene for some building trim, then some detailed pallets and look for butcher staff figures in HO. Next, some scale brass for the railings and wheeled railing hooks for the beef. |

Here's the photos, starting out with the upper part of the unloading dock.
The upper stairwell of the place and the back side of the plant.
The upper back part. I may have to make a new sign.
There's more of the back or side part. There's a poster advertising the Emerson, Lake, & Palmer concert film, Rock & Roll Your Eyes.
The main entrance of the plant; guess that was a mistake placing the main sign where it would be obscured.
The main loading dock entrance door, with packages for the meat before it's shipped out to stores and eating places. Notice the detail? I could use more detailing and better lighting inside.
More details of the building sides, which could stand more detailing for futher realism.

The upper unloading dock; trains run on an elevated bridge and unloaded from the cars here, thanks to the side track close by; The sides of beef which I finally got will hang on hooks with wheels from two sets of of roller rack railings which I plan to make from bress dtailings, one rack each for the two silver doors shown here.

Again, more detailing to add counts, on the walls, like electric conduit tubing and switches and other urban stuff.
More to come, hopefully. |

I got the sides of beef and painted them, using a combination of some pink, white and red paint, then sprayed Testors Dullcoate. All I need is the brass for the railing rack and hooks for the beef, before gluing them on the walls of the upper outside loading dock.

Now where would there be a good place for brass materials for the roller racks?

I dunno, I find EL&P to be dated, but "Tarkus" is one of my all-time favorite album covers. Anytime I hear the Janacek Symphonetta, I do start to sing the words to "Knife Edge": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3p2XxjuV0Y
