John, great looking layout and I for one would be interested in any 'How Too's'. Looking forward to future photo's and that was a great debut to the forum.

Hello everyone
Thanks for replies and a big hello to all who read this whether you leave a message or not.
to Andykins, no, this is not Rusty Stumps although I must admit that their kit had a big influence on me. The tank is actually an HO Rix tank that I have used part of and the rest is Balsa and coffee stir sticks. I will take more photo's of this shortly.
to NeilM, you're quite right but I couldn't find a grader in the correct era so I hoped no one would notice!! Have you any ideas of a suitable model that won't break the bank? Actually you will find other instances of this problem such as for instance the Bus in the Car Park (will post pics of this later when the area is more finished and less of a tip) but they actually look OK.
Here is a photo of my Articulateds, I will talk more about these later

Hi Troels and welcome, I'm particularly pleased to hear from you as I have followed your post for some time and have long been an admirer of yours, in my opinion you are the master at setting a scene.
Andykins, very interested in your show, went to one of your groups shows a year or so back (I'm the one who turned up on a Harley Davidson much to the interest of the motorcyclists in your group) but haven't heard about the one in July this year, can I have some details?
Geezer, the tanks are scratch built as are the cabs, will take photos soon and give a lot more detail.

Hi John Its nice to have some more UK modellers about, the only problem I live in the North near Manchester, we were down south last month at Ally Pally, you may have seen our layout Purgatory Peak. http://bit.ly/J4X8Wo (were about 10min in) we should be back in the south next year at Epsom may see you there. I like what you have shown us, have you a track plan. |

Neil M
I most certainly did see your layout at Ally Pally and I was most impressed, its a fabulous layout, I enjoyed it a lot.
Here is a rather crude drawing of the trackplan and a simple drawing of the layout. As you can see its basically a simple double dogbone, as I have little interest in operations this suits me well, I actually quite like watching trains run round in circles!! The layout lives in a shed at the bottom of my garden and is about 4.5 by 3.5 metres.

If you do come south again let me know, I would be pleased to meet you.
Regards John

Hi John I would have a long way to go to meet up with Neil M as he is now Australia ;-)
We are now having to find why our K27's kept stopping at some points on the layout, (the Saturday was very Hot) some work on the layout will be to get clearance for a K 37, then I have to start work on double headding some trains, the point indicator stands made there first show at Ally Pally and worked very well for the first show.
thanks for the track plan, I must say that I enjoy seeing trains go around.
