Yeah, but I think I may have to rename Burley "June" as she appears to "bustin' out all over", its a good job I'm old enough to remember all these old songs!! (sigh, I seem to be getting to be a sad old git, although my wife may query the word "getting" as wrong tense)
Batman to the rescue Andy?

Good ones Steve, I particularly like Share and Tammy Why Not, we will have to see where this goes from here, no doubt the Super will be up to his old tricks in the not too distant future.
In the meantime to continue with the saga of the Logging Disconnects and the Hopper Cars. Against all advice, Mrs Supers' included, the Super has gone ahead and painted the Cars Green and believe it or not they seem to have come out OK. Even Mrs Super has grudgingly given her approval even though it cost her dear to do so.
What do you think?

PS I think maybe the cars could do with a bit of dry brushing, they look OK in real life but in the photos they seem to need a bit more oooomph.

That's a thought, I'll have to ask the Super where he got it, you don't think he was stitched up again do you?
John
PS Anyone else want to know about weathering? if not we can chat about it Sunday, I know Stephen is interested. |

Always up for a bit more info about weathering. I purchased an airbrush about a year ago, went on a George Dent weathering course down in Lancing (which was very informative), and alas I've done bugger all since then.......blame the Thameslink Project.......
Andy, further to getting Batman on the scene, I always though Sea Lions were a penguins natural predator, wonder what Mr Page would think if a large inflatable sealion was positioned near his stall.....
Okay gents I've got my own dilema.......you've sold me on the idea of upgrading to AMS tank cars, but should I go Black or Silver.....thoughts and reasons please!
Cheers,
Stephen

Andy, you are right, I can't believe it, how did you do it, are you aquainted with the Super as well?
It is another sad story in the life of the much maligned Superintendent of the Fort Wilson and Cold Lake Railroad. What happened is the, the owner the by now well known Hertz van Rental had given the Super $5000 to buy red paint to give a makeover to a lot of the railroads much used equipment, remember $5000 was a lot of money in those days.
Well the Super is by now giving the Mad Dog Saloon a very wide berth but on his way he happened to pass the Crazy Horse gambling establishment and the Super popped in for a quick drink. Now, he quickly noticed that one of the croupiers was June who you may remember from the pictures was "bustin out all over" Those of you who are very observant may well remember that June has a magnificent decollatage although I would imagine that most of you did not actually notice that!!!!
So, you all well know by now that the Super is just a little taken with girls who a super decollatage and as she is on the poker table he decides to have a few games to pass the time. Unfortunately he spends far too much time gazing on the aforementioned decollatage and nowhere near enough time gazing at his cards and you can probably guess the rest.
Yup, he lost nearly all the Railroads money and only had enough for War Surplus paint so everything is now green. Will the Super ever learn?? who knows!!! |

Hi Stephen, Black's nice, Silver's nice, but Black's better!!, tanks always look best in Black I think. Anyway, its much easier to weather black than silver 'cos you can Black nice and matt, for some reason Silver doesn't do matt very well.

it seems i thought right :P when will the super ever learn. :D and very tempting with the sea lion. we might have a whale wonder around, but hopefuly the whale voice choir wont come with it (long story, wont go into detail, ex member, hissy fits over extension leads, and a test track that nearly split the club)
stephen, silver is nice, but black is eaiser to weather maybe black onesfor the road, and one or two silver leased cars? |

I could see where this could have gone and a rake of both could have been ordered, but I've decided to keep things sensible and just placed an order for a box of four of the black variety! I've already got a silver one and will no doubt add a second silver one to the equation at a later stage.
I do agree thought that silver could be a bit of a pain to weather. The only previous experience I've had weathering tankers was with an airbrush on an OO gauge tank wagon, which was dark green. The effects were good, so look forward to having a go at the On30 ones.
Cheers,
Stephen |

Stephen, good choice to get some of both, things often look better mixed up. The black ones will weather easily with powders once you get them matt and will look good with some gloss black to represent spillage whereas you will probably do better with your airbrush on the Silver ones, for some reason or other I have never had much luck with weathering powders staying on Silver no matter what I do.

These are better, a little dry brushing and a load has made a world of difference.

Like the look of them John, adding a load makes a big difference as well. I've still not figured out how I am going to model sugar cane when I get around to finishing my Cane Cars. Must have them full, the only time you saw empty cane cars in cuba was when they were involved on tourist charter trains!
Should just keep my modelling to tank cars, dont have to worry about loads then....!
What sort of time do you reckon you will be at Sopmting on Sunday? I should get there for about half ten.
Cheers,
Stephen |
