Hello Everybody
My name is John Moore and I would like to present my railway "The Fort Wilson and Cold Lake Railroad".
This is a totally freelance and ficticious railway set around the 1950's and 60's. The reason for selecting this timescale is that I love American cars of this era and this gives me the opportunity of combining two loves, NG railways and cars.
I like to scratchbuild if possible and put forward for the groups consideration a few photo's of my models.
The railroad is not finished, nor is it ever likely to be as I am in the habit of deciding I don't like an area and taking a saw to it and starting it again. At the moment the harbour scene is suffering this indignity and the lighthouse in the photo's is what I am working on at the moment and will be the first for this scene when it's finished.
If there is anyone out there who would be interested in joining me on my journey, or indeed discussing my models or methods then it would be great to hear from you.

| John, Welcome to the forum, your models look nice,it sure looks like you've been busy! I really like the lighthouse and depot. What are the two engines, are those Mallets? Is the boat a scratchbuild? And remember, Life begins at On30! |

the layout looks great! a nice mix of engines and railcars and the rock faces look great!

| Good looking railroad, dont know what I like better, the locos and rolling stock or the old cars and jeeps. In the very first pic, is the yellow truck at far left an old Power Wagon? |

Firstly, very many thanks to all for your generous comments, they are really very much appreciated.
Martin, I certainly will try to get the photos right, I must admit until I made the post I didn't realise that there was a right and wrong way! please see my later comment to Rick regarding this.
Andykins, you are right I am English and live on the South Coast to the north of Hastings a few miles away from the town of Battle. You?
Rick, thanks for fixing my post. I didn't know that there is a right and wrong way to do this, I have added a couple of photos to this post which I hope I get right, if not can I come back for advice?
Elminero67, the yellow truck is a Victoria model repainted. Victoria do some brilliant military models but I think they were discontinued some years ago.
Larry, no I'm afraid Cold Lake is not Alberta, its just a figment of my imagination although with Mountains and Coastline I guess my layout would be more at home in Canada than the US if it had to have a home. Actually I have really avoided giving the layout a home then I can do what I like and always be right!!
teaspoon, yes they are Mallets based on a Mantua 2-6-6-2 chassis, I may do a post on these at some time in the future if this would be of interest.

I hope these are OK as I had to substantially reduce them in size, so much so I fear they may be a bit unclear. In the meantime regards to all and please keep the comments coming.

John, you did it perfectly.
When I size my pictures I make them 850 pixels on the longest side and save them at a medium resolution.
You want to keep the file size under 200 kb. |

teaspoon, sorry missed part of your enquiry. Yes the boat is completely scratchbuilt including all those windows!!! Again if there is interest I may do a post on this model.

| Very nice! The only thing that looks out of place is the grader in the first photo - it is much more recent than the 1950s and 60s. I really like the scenery |
