Good evening everyone, It has been a bit of a stressful day, my father in law collapsed on the bathroom floor in the middle of the night, doctors think he may have had a heart attack, we are waiting on tests, When this happened, my mother in law was visiting family in Texas, so sister in law was staying with him. Thankfully, my sister in law is a Registered Nurse, and new that something was wrong right away. Mother in Law is returning to Michigan tonight. We live 8 hours away, and may not know anything certain for a day or two. To make matters a little more aggravating, someone broke into my Van on Friday night and broke off the turn signal arm, and wiper control arm, there was a whole rash of petty larcenies and vandalism Friday night. But I learned the hard way while driving to Lansing this afternoon in the rain, that I cannot turn the wipers on [:-banghead].All in all I'm trying to stay positive, keep a stiff upper lip as they might say in Merry Olde England. Steve

Steve,

Sorry to hear about the FNL. Just a quick suggestion, Rain-x will make not having wipers bearable. Lot of the local Hot Rodders don't have wipers at all and if they get caught in the rain a good coat of Rain-x is all they need.

Good luck and hang in there.

Morning everybody,

Still no trains for me here in Medford. I did attend the regional NMRA meet with a friend and did some checking around in the contest room. Saw some really nice stuff including an On30 diorama featuring the Sierra West structures. I never did get the name of the builder other than "Ed" from somewhere here in Oregon. Great stuff.

I am back to attempting to put my new grill together for the 2nd day. Not complicated, but many bolts & self-tappers in tight to reach places. Shoulda let Lowe's do it for free.

Any of our guys out there is planning on doing the NNGC in Seattle in Sept.?

Have a safe day. Rick

Hi Everyone - I have not logged into the Forum since last Thursday, so I have a fair bit of news to catch up on. I have been involved with the annual model railway show organised by the Australian Model Railway Association- Queensland Branch - Friday (set-up) then Saturday thru Monday as it is our Labor Day long weekend. THis show in Brisbane is the biggest in Australia. I was parking supervisor and security for the four days. Twelve to fourteen hour days starting at 5:30 am gets a bit tiring. [:-banghead]
Steve - I am sorry to hear about your father-in-law and then all your own problems with vandalism etc. I hope everything comes out OK for you and your father-in-law recovers.
I am afraid I haven't any images of the model railway show as I was almost continually walking around in the crowd watching for any problems although I did get the occasional break from security duties or copping abuse from exhibitors because I would not let them park where they wanted to, so I could clean the public toilets (its called multi skilling).
Ahhh! I had Tuesday off from work to catch up on some sleep. Now its Wednesday morning and its good to be back at work with a nice hot cup of coffee to start the day. [:-angel]

well my chopper came, guess how i spent my afternoon ? :P but i have two flat cars decked.
also, guess how you tell if your flat pack shelves are sh*t? when you put a little bit of tape on it, then pull it off removeing some of the paper cover wood grain thing...... oh well.

david i hope all your hard work paid off, i know shows can be tiring. luckly our shows have never been large enough to need anyone to tell people where to park or need security

Good evening everyone.

Thanks for the after dinner coffee martin.

Steve sorry to hear about your FIL.
Hope he's feeling better soon.
Also sorry to hear about your van.
I just don't understand why people would such a thing.
If they catch the person(s) who did it, here are a few ideas for punishment:

The Water Torture (Torture)

Drops of Water
A very painful method of torture consisted of fixing a victim's head under a small tube that constantly filtered drops of water. These fell on the same spot of the victim's head leading to, in prolonged periods of time, perforation and eventually death.

The Cauldron
The unlucky victim was placed inside an empty cauldron attached to chains. The cauldron was filled with cold water and beneath it, a fire was set. Eventually the water began to boil cooking the victim alive. This was more frequently a way to execute a prisoner rather than to extract a confession.

Freezing with water
In the winter, the naked victim was forced to stand outside in full view of everyone. Slowly, the torturer poured water on his head which eventually became frozen making the victim die slowly and painfully. Sometimes the body was left for the whole winter to terrify the population and dissuade any further crimes, as punishment was imminent.

Force Drinking
This torture was mostly used in more recent times, but some historians believe that its origins date to the Middle Ages. The effect is this: the victim is forced to drink much water until his confession or death.

Hope everyone has or had a great day.

Gee Rick you are giving me nightmares. I am in LA on business until Friday night. I have not seen a train but I have been well feed
Steve Sorry to hear your news.
We got great news at home today. We were worried our highly trained theropy dog had cancer. They removed a large growth and the results were negative. She will be back helping her human friends in a few weeks. Plus providing a calming effect on me.
Have a good night all.
