I wont say what products are in the post in case anyone wants to wait for the official report.
I can say the first item disappoints me a little, but I may still get one.
I think the second item will have a lot of potential.

Update
Here is the official annoucements:
http://www.bachmanntrains.com/NMRA_2012.pdf
Even though I do like the 2-4-4-2, I can't help but think it was a lazy offering from Bachmann since most of the parts are the same as the 2-6-6-2. For $525 it doesn't seem great value either.
I find it interesting that the new 2-4-4-2 is said to be "SHIPPING NOW". After the delays the porters and the heislers have had, I wonder if Bachmann will deliver this time! I look forward to the new cars, but Chivers (now SlimRails) have been making similar cars as plastic kits for years. Im sure us Brits who have smaller layouts will be very grateful for these.

i do like that 2-4-4-2 looks, less "anorexic" then the 2-6-6-2, a lazy offering? maybe, but then companys like baldwin where anyway, so if anything bachmann is being very prototypical [:-eyebrows]
but i do like those short cars, i have a couple fullsize bachmann cars, and while i can run my layout with them, they look too big, i think a boxcar may join my line, i dismissed the tank car, till i have a quick double check on mine, thats got a new shorter tank (i thought they had used the one they already have) so that mightjoin the line too, everything else, why nice, i could scratch, i still have a fair few of larry's flat car frames.
as you may have seen, i have a fe of those chiver/slimrails kits, love them, but they are quite narrow, so im hopeing these bachmann cars are going to be wider. |

Good morning everyone.
Coffee and hot water are ready. I'm having scrambled egg whites with mixed veggies for breakfast. I'll make more if your hungry.
Nothing out of the ordinary happening round here, which isn't a bad thing.
The 18' cars announced by Bachmann look interesting. Not sure if I'll buy any. I'd be more inclined to buy just the frame and scratch my own cars assuming they'll sell just the frame. The 2-4-4-2 looks OK to me but I have plenty of motive power and don't need any more. If you had your druthers, what would you like to see Bachmann make next?
Hope everyone has or had a great day. |

The 18 footers look nice, but I think I'd rather order some shorty cars from Dallas. I would like to see some Billboard Reefers, but more importantly a fix to the gearing problem that has bedeviled these otherwise great engines. Then maybe some shorty passenger cars. To round out Rick's breakfast, I have some pot roast hash from the Roxy Cafe in Jackson, along with whole wheat toast, eggs, bacon, ham, and sausages, along with Geezers famous Jalapeno Grits, with some Leslie Bakery's cream filled maple glazed, bacon covered long john's, because gosh Rick, there just wasn't hardly any fat in that first breakfast . Now where did I put my nitro pills..... |

Good morning all .... thanks for the coffee ...
Steve: "BINGO" on the short cars. I have 6 of Dallas cars. They were fun to built and are great little runners. The trucks are the right size as well.
The big locos are of no interest to me. The Heisler is next for me.
Have a great day ..... |

Thanks for the grub. I would like to see a WP&Y shovel nose engine or some WWI tench engines released by Bachmann, I feel I will be waiting a very long time. It is time for me to start a thread of some type. Larrt |

thanks for the eggs and veg rick!
do you think we have enough members to bend lee's arm into producing something? that case, one of the tench engines, like larry. cute engines that saw life after the war, would be popular with both american AND british modellers as some found their way here too. that and a larger switcher, porter, vulcan or baldwin etc.
as for shorty passenger cars, Dallas is busy on that :) |

Well, I can't say too much cuz of the rules and all that ... but I had been thinking of making some 18' cars just to "mix it up a bit" ... a bit flattering that Bachmann has come around to my way of thinking on those! (Actually, I was disappointed that they didn't introduce a new truck for their 18' cars ... they're obviously not reading all of my thoughts!) [:-blindfold]
So, I'll stop there before I get in trouble ... car is in the shop and will either be done today or Monday. Thanks again for the support there.
Walked 5 or 6 miles around town yesterday "running" errands (no running for me in this heat!) Lots of neat old architecture to study along the way ... slept real well after all that walking ... look forward to walking a mile back to the shop when the car is done! (Neighbors will drive me if I ask, but the exercise is good and I actually enjoy studying the old buildings in the neighborhood without fear of steering off the road!)
PS -- There's a real nice older lady who lives next door to me. I always shovel out her car when it snows, help her out with packages and stuff ... she has a beautiful Mercedes that she gets detailed regularly and she offered to let me use that as much as I'd like. No way! First of all, I like to "drink & drive" (coffee!) and I'm always dribbling that down my chest or doing other stupid slobby stuff like that ... and then, more importantly, there are all those IDIOTS that you always have to look out for ... bad enough when it happens in your own car, but seems like it would feel even worse in someone else's. Well, how's that for a long, stupid ramble? Good On30 friends, nice neighbors ... now back to packing kits. [:-wiltel] |

Good morning everyone and thanks for the coffee and food Andy, after a meal like that I'm good till supper.
No modeling for me yesterday as I spent the day running around. When I did get to the work bench I discovered I was missing the proper drill bit size i needed to make holes that needed to be tapped, so It was off to the hobby store, then supper with my sun and then a ball game. Today We are picking up the grand kids, taking them to their favorite restaurant, McDonalds [:-bigeyes2][:-boggled][:-yuck][:-crazy][:-paperbag], and then off to a museum. If I have any energy after that I may get to the workbench tonight.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone.
I guess everyone stayed up late to watch the Mars landing and is still sleeping. [:-sleep]
Coffee and hot water are ready.
Still half asleep myself since I just woke up so I'm not really sure what's going on yet.
Hope everyone has or had a great day. |

| Thanks for the coffee Rick. Thanks to a very generous donation from a local towing company, I'm off to the lumberyard to pick up materials for the 1:1 build "The Creole Cottage" that I'll be working on for the next few weeks. Between this project and a foundation repair to the house there hasn't been much time for modeling lately. I'm glad for the cooler weather we're having here in Michigan this week, as I became overheated on Saturday and really didn't feel well all weekend. I'll add some fresh fruit and Buckwheat pancakes to Rick's breakfast. Wishing everyone a nice relaxing summer day.[:-cowboy] |

Afternoon All, did you ever want to just give up? We thought we had a quick sell to this one company for a small profit , but after we tried thier agent we got [:-censored]. We just wanted to get out with a few dollars, but when we went back to do the deal the turkey offeered $40,000 less than the original offer. Now we're stuck with no options at all, so it looks like no railroad for me for who knows how long[:-cry].
we may just walk away and let the cheatin morgage company have the house. We have tried 3-4 times to get a refinance and they say we should have no problem til we jump through all the hoops , then find some reason to turn us down. Always a different reason.[:-grumpy] I for one am tired of getting lied to, and cheated by people everytime I turn around.
Excuse the rant , but model railroading is all that has got me through this and right now I can't even do any of that.
Well you guys have a good afternoon, I'm just setting in my armchair fumming.
