This project is a kit-mod built from Bar Mills' Saulenas Tavern. Here is a photo of OEM structure from their website:

I want to add a pylon-shaped roof dormer/cupola between both roof turrets. Something similar to this - but not exactly:

I've removed some of the unnecessary clutter before continuing (photo below). As you can see, the roof turret on the right still lacks portal windows, copper roof trim, gutters, etc.

... supplies ...

... first few rows of Rusty Stump's "V" Cut Shake Shingles (http://www.rustystumps.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D5004) installed over double-sided tape ...

Hey Delbert, that photo you posted of the tower has a great look to it.
And it will add further interest to an already interesting structure.
You definitely have the most interesting looking Salenas'that I have ever seen.
My only complaint is, I can never seem to get a bite there, it's always closed.

Delbert,

It just keeps getting better and better. Looks like the "imagineering" on this project continues.

Gentlemen, thanks for your comments - much appreciated.

Thanks, Bob!

Greg, I'll eventually have to do something about that "closed" sign as my thoughts have always been to model a small outdoor dining scene with tables, chairs, patrons, etc.

Hey Dave! Good to hear from you.
Yes, I'm still tinkering with "Mule Lip" as I still haven't completed the vision I have for it. But, I find that time away from the build gives me the opportunity to rethink earlier ideas/plans.

If I ever get caught up on my projects and commitments, both professional and personal, maybe I'll try my hand at a 1/48 Saulenas' ... *GASP*

Best wishes, ...

... roof dormer (cupola?) / roof access ...
changed my initial design and did not include the Grandt Line widow's walk trim ...

... needs a stair rail, light over door ...

Hi Delbert, well that turned out really well!
But let us see how it looks with the rest of the building.
I feel like I am at a peep show, not that I've ever been to one of those.
Give us the BIG picture.[:-bigeyes]

Delbert,

The new cupola is well done and fits the decor of the structure exceptionally well. The signs are fantastic and give the structure a very distinctive flavor and aroma not to mention a unique appearance. When will that cafe sign be turned over to say "open for business"?

Greg, Dave, thank you for your comments and continued interest in my project ...

I mentioned above that I have removed some of the details for easier access as well as some areas that I need to rework/reglue (turret details).

... okay, the BIG picture:

Fantastic adaptation of that kit Delbert.

I've always thought Saulena's could benefit from a support post beneath that upper floor corner. Do you plan to have any posts supporting those cantilevered upper floors?

Regards,
Bryan

Thanks, Bryan!

I've considered the support posts you've suggested. The turret walls only extend a scale 3-feet and I felt they weren't necessary. However, I've modeled 'rods and eyebolts' (still lack weathering and rust) to support the roof around the front of Orion's Cafe ...

I appreciate your comments and interest in my build.

Best regards,
