The progress has been a little slow but yesterday I received my decals so I put aside the La belle box car and continued on my Wagner car. I didn't paint the whole car as the decals will supply much of the decoration. I only masked off and primed all the corners where decals will not be applied. I first tested with a piece of decal on a surface primed with black and white to see what looked best. The decals undercoat of white was a bit translucent so I decided to try to prime as much of the surfaces with white.

Decals, some of which has been applied.

How the primed body looks before the side decal

One of the side decals applied. I'm not entirely happy as it now looks very colorful but hopefully it will improve with the clear coat and some weathering. Also the yellow stripes/decoration looks to yellow so for the next project I see if I can find a more golden hue. It is difficult as the decal printer sometimes makes changes and I don't know the results until I have the decal in my hand.
I also made a mistake of not clear coating my roof so the decal glue has made a lot of deposits on it. Hopefully I can whipe most of it off. If not I have to mask and give the roof a new coat of grimy black.

After the decals are applied I'll use some decals softening to get the decals to adhere properly. Then off to touching up and clear coat.

To be continued.....

Randy, the model is coming together so nicely. I like the vehicles and folks that help provide some added detail to the scene. [:-star][:-star][:-star]

Hakan, that's one beautiful looking car! I'm sure another spray of black will settle the roof issue. The yellow detailing looks very authentic in these images. Great job! [:-thumbu][:-thumbu]

The building's looking good, Randy.

That's a very colorful car, Håkan. I'm anxious to see how it looks when you're done.

Håkan, that's some decal job, makes for a very eye-catching car.

Now that the slab-side hopper is done and waiting for it's paint job I've started to work on my part 2.

I had two Canadian Pacific wood sheathed caboose kits from Juneco. One had been almost finished and the other was untouched in it's box.
I decided to build the kit up to the point that the other was built, then finish both off.

This is how they both stand now. I built the frame and added to walls and roof to the kit and am now bending wire to form the grabs for the end.

Randy, I haven't mentioned it yet, but I really like the angled loading dock.

Håkan, that is a great looking car.

Glen, I love the old wood and metal kits. Have a blast building it.

The result of the past 24 hours of efforts!

Sorry ’bout the poor photo quality.
iPhone, winter & bad lighting indoors.
Furthermore almost up by the arctic circle, so there’s not much light anyway this time of year.
(I hate it!.)

Anders

Yup , you guessed it . One of Fichtenfoo's latest creations . http://industriamechanika.com/blog/

The flying boat Remora .Now I realise that it is not a boat as is conventionally thought of , but I did ask the question at the beginning and was given the OK , so here it is . I shall give more information on how I intend to display it at a later date . Needless to say there will be trackwork involved !
