These 2 are the first of several left over from a large box lot of cars and rubbish (emphasis on rubbish, ) that I had bought a few years ago. I pulled all of the decent cars that took only a few hours of effort to move them to either keep or depart. The rest were salvaged for parts, trucks, etc and more than a few made some great kindling last winter,

But, I kept a few on the shelf thinking that there might be something there other than just kindling.

These 2 were basically wooden boxes with a boxcar roof section all nailed together when I started.

Basically, skinned in scribed siding, etc, etc, etc.

I've got another 2 boxcars to decide what to do with and 2 gondolas, and 1 outside braced hopper car that some one did a nice job of assembling. The 1 boxcar is labeled underneath from Monarch Model Supplies.

Nice looking boxcars! I like the details around the doors and the strap along the bottom. I've never seen that before.

Thanks!

Trudging along forward....

with the hope that these will be off my bench by the end of the week; I've got a couple of cabooses (cabeese?) to grind into shape before taking on the rest of the salvage yard cars,

You're the 2nd person to suggest just finishing them in naterual wood......

But, I've got the dry transfers for both in hand so off to the paint queue they go.

Anyway, I can make more.....and given the box of parts that I just found back when I was contemplating putting out a generic boxcar kit several years ago, I could make many more if I had both space and time (have to consult Prof. Hawking on that detail - 70th birthday!)>

I like those cars. They remind me of the old days when I started out building Scotia Scale Models 36' trussrod frieghtcar kits.

I have some dry transfers for B&O S.W. that while not quite right will be what these end up as in the end. One for me and one for a modeler in Mississippi that I owe.... He's going to get one of the MoW cars that I'm building as well. Then I have to get onto a drover's caboose for him (and 1 for me !!),
