Randy,

Unbelievable progress, three months from start to “she’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes”. The general store will open for business by next week. What percentage of the total layout does this represent? I’m just trying to figure when the golden spike ceremony will be. I may need to make reservations for one of those rooms up stairs in the general store.

Hey Frank,
I'm in the last side of this diorama,
this area is 12'x 30" with a 30" triangle bump out in front of the Mercantile.
My room is 22'x 11'4",
this is my second room size full diorama,
when its complete I'll photograph it alot,
then dismantle it for the next room size diorama.
This time around of the "Columbia Pacific Railroad" is the "Spring Creek" area,
pt.2 of the continuing story.
I've got two more room size dioramas already drawn up.
Randy

I save all my trees & buildings & bridges for future work,
not having to make trees really speeds up the scenery process,
I save my rail too to reuse.

Got the roof trusses framed & the roof joists on over the porches & the loading dock;

I'm thinking my traditional shake roof over the buildings & the front porch,
and corrigated metal roofing over the loading dock?

Randy, you're doing a great job again on this latest build.
A combination of shake and metal roofing sounds good to me.

I really like the last picture in the previous set of pictures you posted.

Randy, another nice build. Shorten the walls and few other changes, the basic shape would make a nice house.

Randy,

So you just build’em, photograph’em and scrap’em. I think you’re the only one in model railroading that does it that way. I tend to hang onto my stuff longer than that. But you are the Superman of layout building.

I’ll buy not having to make new trees saves time because I spend around 6 hours on a dead tree and up to 12 hours on a living tree.

Well Frank,
if I lived in Florida I'd build them,
then give to the Sundance Central!
for me to keep enjoying the creating of new scenes in a small space (G scale modeling),
this is the best way for me,
until a warehouse falls into my lap to store them all.

Looks great Randy, but you could use a small step at the post office door.

Hey Mark,
got that step in at the post office.

Didn't care for the front of my store before, kind of boring & the signs as they were,
so I chiseled off the signs,
and then......
kinda had a vision the other morning waking up how to improve the front of the store to make it more intresting.
so I got out the dremel to cut out a rough opening for a new/old upstairs door,
then added a upper deck & rail,
made new signs for the store & post office,
put a skirt of old boards below the front porch and addede some product poster signs.

also got the upper gable sided in with a attic window installed.

That skirt around the porch deck with it's signs improves things tremendously, it's turned great into better.
