Hi Randy, I've just discovered your thread here! Wow! It's amazing what can be accomplished quickly in large scale. Your vision materialized in such a magnificent manner. I only wish that I had more space for a larger scale layout! [:-thumbu][:-thumbu]

Been getting the benchwork and backboards up this last weekend in my last section to model in,this area is about 11" long, with a 5'x30" bumpout piece at the end.

got the sky and some trees painted on for my background scenes.
I haven't ever used this area before so I had to build everything up new.(benchwork & backboard)etc.
It really sqeased down my work bench area!

the track is going by at the far end with a road crossing,
the road will come down the length, there will be a wooden single lane vehicle bridge along there, and then the road will curve onto the bumpout.
In front of the bumpout end I'm going to scratch build a general store for that areas scene.

This general store will also my build entry in the build challange.

Now I gotta go see if I can find one of those cold "Seattle Rainer" beers!

Hi Randy. I look forward to your "challenge" structure. I like the idea of sketching it out first, something Troels and some other members do. I'll have to have a go at that type of planning! It was interesting to see your starting point with the tall trees painted on the backdrop. Boy, does it ever come together when you add the scenery to match!

Hey Mike,
are you doing a challange project this time around?[:-idea]
{The backdrops}I wish they were even better,
but the only way to get better is just doing them, I put a few large trees in 1st then smaller ones in between,[:-magnify]
the smaller trees will imply distance when your foreground scenery/trees go in.[:-idea]
I'll have a bunch more trees to build for this new section of realistate.[:-hypnotized]

Getten the 2" foam scenery base glued in and the creek cutout roughed in,
the creek will have a single lane wooden vehicle bridge(about 24"span)

Great work going on! I noticed on the bridge you were using some of the Micro Engineering Gap gauges. I have just purchased some, they did not look like they were going to fit the track (code 250 also) Did you have troubles? Again very impressive work keep it up!

Hey Mark,
Some rail I've got, like from Sunst Valley was bigger than the plastic guages,I suspect the next larger size, but Sunset Valley makes a Aluminum gauge that works good for that oversized code 250,

I bought some new code 250 rail from SwitchCrafters this last fall and there rail fits perfectly to those plastic gauges, I got my plastic gauges from SwitchCrafters, they are ME products.
heres some links to Sunset Valley & SwichCrafters.
