Thanks Mark! It's a good thing for me that my prototype is so close, because even though I thought I had a lot of pics to start with, I've been surprised at how many more I've needed as this project has gone along. As with most of my projects, there are lots of little details that I didn't notice until the time came to model the area.

Thanks very much Ollie. Just spent this morning putting the finishing touches on the east sand tower - the repurposed, vertically-mounted 8000 gallon tank car that's visible in the last prototype pic on the previous page - as well as adding the electrical meter and conduit to the enginehouse. Some security light details arrived yesterday, so I'm planning to add those tomorrow and take a few more pics.

Well, here it is. Not a huge deal, but it's kind of a signature structure here, bookended with the west sand tower I built a few weeks ago.
First up, a prototype view of the shop looking NW, 7/31/2011.
...and the model scene showing the new shop flood lights, electrical meter and conduit, and gas line stub (protected by the yellow section of rail planted in the foreground).
Prototype photo looking SW, 6/10/2005. I've been modeling the IAIS for almost 12 years, but just learned the east sand tower's history as a tank car a couple months ago. It looked so tiny that I just never imagined it started life as a freight car, but learning this bit of history made modeling this tower a lot more fun.
Looking south at the new east sand tower. I used an old Silver Streak 8000 gallon tank car body given to me by Bob Gretillat with a scratchbuilt base and sanding pipe.
Prototype photo by Paul Rome looking NE, 4/23/2005. This view gives a little better glimpse of the damage to the former tank car that I'm guessing led to its retirement from revenue service.
Looking NW. The Silver Streak tank car model featured a metal wrapper around a wood core, which proved to be ideal for my attempt at recreating the prototype's dents and creases.

Thanks Stephen. That's just garden weed cloth. I covered its use in my last update toward the bottom of page 8.

Here are the latest updates on my enginehouse scene:
First up, a prototype pic of the Bluffs electrician's storage trailer (far right), an ex-BNZ 40-footer:
...and the model. I happened to have an Accurail 45' trailer sitting around, so it was shortened to a 40-footer, with electrical conduit added to the roof.
Proto pic of the Bluffs load tester. I believe this was home-built, obviously using fans from an old Geep.
Here's the model I scratchbuild from Evergreen styrene, P2K fans, and a lift ring from the parts bin, awaiting paint, decals, and cable attachment:
