Nice work Bill. I do like the mine and all.

Bill, this mine is going to have a very impressive trestle connection. Very nice.

Oh I vote tall lean bents that shake when the lory and cars cross over. A sound module under it with creeks and groans...

Dear annomous,
I disagree with using smaller bents. Perhaps the cross members could be smaller but the bents need to be strong enough to with stand the height.

Far from being a bent expert (although I've been told to get one numerous times) I see nothing wrong with yours. My suggestion is to follow Troels' advice and "keep it coming". |

Since you're asking for opinions, here's my two cents...
The size of the timbers looks ok to me but I think there are too many legs on the bents. Even most standard gauge trestles I've seen only have five legs, not six. For a small mining tram, four or five at the most would be plenty, depending on the gauge of track and size of the loco and cars. You could even go with just three legs per bent. For example, here are some pics of a trestle at the Nivloc mine in Nevada. The track was only about 15" gauge, and I don't know whether they had any motive power or just pushed the ore cars across by hand:
Here's one at the Noonday Mines in the Mojave desert, which only had two legs per bent! This track was quite long and served several mines, so they must have had some sort of motive power:

I like this scene- it's very interesting. Looking forward to seeing how it looks when it's finished.
