Yeah Andy, the doors will be operational.....
That is, if and when I get the missing parts for the
kit. Seems that the door runners and a couple other pieces
didn't make it through the assembly line when the kit was
put together. The MFG has mentioned that he will get them
in the mail asap....Probably wont be posting much until
after that happens.....Thanks Tom....;-) IC U got the PM lol!

Got the replacement parts from Jon today - Great service!!! Also heard some crashing about our in the maintenance of way area, along the tree line....Hmmmmm......
Ut-oh! Holy stinky stuff, [:-batman]!! Wudja look at the size of that one!!!![:-bigeyes]

Looks ta me, like he's looking for something ( or someone).....

Why, he makes those barrels of paint look small!!!
Actually, the paint jar is about 3 inches in front of the Moose....LOL!

Well, there he goes!!! Didn't stay long, just munched a bit of the grass....Looks like he is headin twards N.E Massachusetts ....
From the pictures we got, he measures out to:(O Scale)
15 foot Antlers across the palms
Nose to tail (rump)18' 6"
13' 6" at the top of the hump
Feet are 18"
I guess I better get busy and put up some "No Moose hunting" signs before that guy up around Vincent Lake shows.....I also better call the management of the Cielo Vista railway and let him know what is happening.....Be back later.....

The management of the CVRY has advised that you could domesticate the moose and train it to push the occasional car to save on revenue. This has been done with limited success with Tiny Tim, the gorilla that was abandoned by a circus on rail that passed through.

To quote a Canadian friend of mine. . . . ."duuuuuuuuude, Moooooooose are Huuuuuuuuuge". I like Arthur's suggestion, the MOW crew may complain about deposits along the line.

Tom -The Winchester .270 is a great flat shooter!
Arthur - domestication sounds like a good idea.... We could
save manpower and fuel (wood) to have the moose move a few cars around....
He could eat down my the swamp.....
Peter - As far as droppings go, the American Indians used dried Buffalo chips
for fuel, so why couldn't the moose droppings be used the same way?
Anyway, been putzin around this morning, after being dragged around Brooklyn, doing
1:1 chores with the missus.....Post in a minute.....

So, here's what I did while waiting for the paint to dry on a couple box cars I am working on.....
I need ways to disguise the servos that work the turnouts on my layout.....

This is the first of a few 2.5" x 3" switchman's shanty's I will be building. Just some 2"x6" stripwood and some Grandt Line plastic....All cardboard covered with the wood.

Went together pretty fast...You wont see the glue smudges when I get some chalk on it in a little while.
Yeah, I know....I carved up the computer desk here in Brooklyn....no workbench here.....
Anyway, I will be posting some progress on the boxcars later....Stay tuned.....

Except for the computer desk, it looks good.
Actually I probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't mention it.

and we would like to be outta here by then.....
Thanks Marty....can always depend on a pat on the back from you guys. ;-)

Ok....just a few progress shots for now, probably not much more til Christmas....
Anyway, I added a sign to the back of one of the servo sheds, will add a frame for the sign before I install the shed:

Nothing spectacular, just showin that I have not been sleeping all this time......
Here's a couple on the boxcar builds....

the one on the left is from Boulder vallety Models - Steel Side Box car and the one on the right is from Morgan Hill Models - Wood side box car.
Both cars are weighted, the wood box has a hidden weight built into the floor and the BVM steel box has 1oz self stick weights, two 1/4 oz on each end, inside. There is also some freight inside the BVM car.

The above picture was taken outside at dark.....
The rail below the BVM has been painted....the rail beneath the MMH has not, and has really weathered after being outside for 6-7 months.... Maybe a daylight shot or two tomorrow.
Anyway, both cars will get more weathering, and also the stirrups. I don't put the stirrups on any cars til they are ready for the rails....obvious reasons.....they break easy!
OK - I think I hear the broom comming in for a landing, so I better go.....Talk to ya later.....
