Thanks for sharing your technique; I'll have to give it a try next time I'm doing some brickwork as it looks very realistic. and yes, it certainly helps to start with a beautiful casting from the hands of Karl and Brett ...

Well lastnight I got the 3 main walls and the partial back wall of the office boarded and glued together. Brett uses an interesting technique here. He supplies you with clapboard siding and individual strips that you weather as you please. These strips are then applied over the clapboard sidinggiving the wall that nice board on bord look. Hope this makes sense.
Most of the side below will be covered with a porch aswell as some detail castings. The wall section Left of the Carters sign wont be covered by the porch so that got a little extra weathering.
There is still 2 boards that need to be glued under the 2 windows. I also need to touch up the edge of some of the boards to get rid of that fresh cut lumber look.
As always, let me know where i can improve to make things better etc.

Looking good Wes, a couple of suggestions for you.....
If you can 'pop' out the doors and windows do so, a slight dry brushing with a light grey colour will age and fade the green. Do this in a subtle way but it will bring them more 'intune' with the aged and faded walls.
While you have the windows out spray them with dullcoat to 'frost' the glass, from the front would be best but from the back will also work.
You are really flying through this build !!

Thanks Karl for the suggestions. Just the kind of advice I need.
Looking at the same 4 walls for many hours while gluing, you tend to miss certain things. Ill do that this evening.
Its been a really fun build so far. |

Hi everyone
I continue to work slowly through this build. Dont you just hate it when you dying to build something, but 1:1 things get in the way?[:-banghead][:-banghead]
Anyway, i have completed the stair case that is used to gain access to the top floor of the main barn. the one set of pillars on the bottom landing is a bit off, but that will be fixed.
The main loading dock infront of the barn is also complete. Somehow a smudge of green paint ended up on the front of it. Ill try remove that tonight, or otherwise use an old tyre as a bumper to try and hide it.
As always, all critique and suggestions are welcome. |

Summer has hit here in Africa, so surfing or mountain biking till late has kept me away from this build. Some gentle persuasion from Karl A and Brett has got me going again.
Below is some pictures of the repair shed that I built lastnight. Its going to be more neglected than the rest of the structures with a nice rusty roof.

Agree with Karl's suggestions on the windows, but have to add that the coloring and weathering on the red siding looks really good. Well done! |

Ive dusted the windows and door with some weathering powders, and that has toned down the overall appearence alot. |
