Hi Andy,

Great work, as ever.

Good luck for the show this weekend, mate!

(Or should I say "Break a Leg..")???

so i found a few moments to check out my grandtline coupler pockets, i was going to use them years ago on something, but couldnt figure out how to work them.

johns newer cars got me a-thinking about them again, and hearing how much trouble he went to cutting up kadee boxes thought id have a root around my collection.

i found the #146 (or whatever the long centre shank ones are with the whisker springs are) would fit, so long as the draft box is fitted with upto the edge of the car, and if the ends on the whiskers are trimmed, since they stick out when centre, also, i figured one could cut a box down to move the coupler out and leave the springs as is but resting agaist the sides of the grandtline part.

(looks like it does not fit in the photo, but the knuckle does clear the grandtline part)

seems to be it can swing all the way to the side and the knuckle would just start to hit the edge of the grandtline part. but i have a loco with couplings fixed that dont swing and works fine because everything else does, so id gusee that a coupling that swings a bit should still be fine

Well Andy I have to say if there was a best in Show I think I know who would get it.The layout is even better in the flesh than in the pictures;very, very well done I'm proud of you.If the club ON30 is as good it will be fantastic.
You also managed a first aswell.I have never seen a beard trimmer used at a show before.

thanks nick :)

indeed, the guy watching at the time wasnt sure what he just saw, he didnt even ask for fear of looking crazy.
so thats two show invites, lots of photos, and nearly as many take of the stock boxes/layout supports.. :P

Hi Andy,

Good to meet you today, and a treat to see your layout in the flesh - real nice bit of work, glad to see my tank car has been transfered to a decent railroad! Look forward to seeing the conversion.

Cheers,

Stephen

Ahh...sorry to be a few thousand miles too far west to enjoy the show! I am sure Andy's layout received many second, third, fourth looks from those fortunate to see it displayed.
