well just to muddy the waters I like "B"

The porter pulling those boxcars is a great shop, the porter looks right at home in that scene.

thanks for the input guys.

just to muddy the waters more, heres another.

thinking about the size id like (1/2" or smaller) i noticed in the latest NGSLG on some boxcars from mexico that had quite a small heralds, and i quite like that. bit of an understatment, saves paint too :P

so yesterday, i spent most of the day adding some dirt and fallen leaves.

it was bugging me the trailer scene soil was too clean, one simple post from someone else sudgesing it should be more dirty was enough to tip me and make me do something about it.

one problem i did have was the colouring on the noch leaves bleed a little. i was horrifyed to see yellowish-red bleeding in my tile grout. luckly a little added tile grout and soil managed to cover up the wrost of it, then i added some fancy (and expensive) laser cut leaves one leaf at a time.

also you may notice the fellow on the station

one of my "pet hates" is figures in mid "action" poses, so im being very selective about who gets put on the layout :D this guy seems to be well away into dream land, i hope he dosnt miss his train.

Looks good Andy ! These Noch autumn leaves bleed like h***, even after 2 coats of grout before the show the color comes through now...well cover it up with a bit of paint I think..

thanks martin, i know! luckly mine covered well, still see some yellowing, but it blends well enough to look fine. i just ordered some silfor leafing mats, will be interesting to see if they bleed at all (but to avoid any more bleeding on the layout, i'll do a test batch elsewhere and report back for anyone whos interested)

I love your scenes, Andy, that's some really fine scenery work, and a pleasure to the eye.
Apart from this, I vote for B too. Share the point of Dave about "Safety first" filling nicely an otherwise blank space, but prefer the star to the dot.
(Although, I'm not sure the run down RRs we model here should have written Safety first on their herald in a time when the whole concept was somewhat different. Maybe we could think of a more 'propaganda' motto.

thanks ok martin, i think the silfor leaves should work fine, ive seen a few guys use them for fallen leaves. thank you for the offer anyway.

thank you very much Frederic.
i did have a thought of having a single one with "safety frist" but whom ever was painting it has fallen off his ladder as shown by the long white line running down the car from the letter "t" :D

well im open to ideas for mottos :) i put safety first because its what ive seen and is all i could think off

found some time to stick down the larger details

also added an extra bush or two.
ive added two larger bottles, i have a crate to fit somewhere, plus more papers etc any other ideas?

also thinking on about the herald, what about this one? different border, different font, a rather well named "iowan old style" with safety first on a inner ring :D

edit to fix silly spelling mistake in herald[:-banghead][:-bigeyes2]

Andy, The trailer looks great. Kind of reminds me of one we rented in Fla in 1968, while I was in the Air Force. A little cleaner but not much bigger.

Andy, I really like the trailer scene now. Looks like some down on his luck writer trying to write the great american novel.

Your latest herald is the best so far.
