Andy,
I like the color in your buildings. The change up in boards adds a nice difference. |

i picked up some pre cut cardboard boxes yonks ago that had something like sun vallery tomatos on, so im sure they'll find there way out the back along with other junk.
thanks for all the kind words.
it dawned on me yesterday that untill my order from the states comes, i cant really do much more with buildings, all have large frieght doors. and i dont want to make a start with out knowing how big i need to make hole in side :D
that being said its a lovely day to paint the track.... if only i had the paint :D
odd jobs day today then. i'll find something to keep be busy |

Andy, isn't it just a bummer, when you are all set to do something and don't have the material you need to do it. I can't do much more on the sawmill untill I order some more parts for the overhead pully system and am waiting for my monthly SSA check to get deposited. Luckly, I have a bunch of other kits stashed away, waiting for me to build. This is a good reason to get at them. |

no they are laser cut ones from rusty stumps. so although i know that are 8foot by 8foot i dont know if i need to make any kind of allowance for frames etc. plus even if i did know the most id beable to do is cut out the walls from foam board, and thats a 20 mins job anyway. plus i still need to make mock ups for the freight depot and storage shed of the farm supply anyway. so that'll keep me busy.
jim it is rather, i ordered them last week so they should be here soonish i hope. just a case of bad timing on my part, still a pain though. but i know what you mean about stashing kits, i have 2 loco kits, with another one to finnesh (when i can afford the DCC chip for bluebox models) a dress up kit, plus a whole box of chassis castings to do something with. not to add a couple of locos of whitch i'll buy body kits, plus more stock kits at some point :D id be tempted to make one of the loco kits, but i dont want to get sidetracked with another project, between my layout, and n gauge buildings i have plenty on my plate as it is :D |

so with my order from rusty stumps landing on my door step a couple days ago the last two flat (well one flat and one flat-ish) buildings where started, these will be a garage. and a farm supply with rail link.
as of mid morning this is where i am, as before the sub walling is all foamboard. however i had to clad this with plastic card to build hight, as the roof sits on the foamboard. the warehouse part will be clad in corrugated iron. it took a while to get right as its on an angle to the back board. but it should go ok. also made the ends slightly taller then the middle so the roof dips ever so slightly.

and this is the garage. nothing much to report yet. i made the door up just to see what it'll look like, again clad mostly in corrugated iron, a couple patches will be left where the men hired to cover the aging timbers ran out, and the garage owner could no afford extra sheeting. there will also be ALOT of junk in the yard. been eyeing up a few castings from rustyrails as well as raiding my junk and parts box for car and truck parts. will be meny a happy hour spent modeling that.

still undesided regarding passener station, i have my eye on the banta crossing shanty as an ideal small waiting room. but im unsure if the railroads management can justify the shelter. *cough*i havent got enough money myself so i'll leave that bit till the end *cough* :D |

with a lack of order from model juntion. not alot has gone on. i was able to paint the track, since sat was just about nice enought to bringt the layout outdoors and sprey it.

sprey with a mix of tamiya german grey and modelmaster earthbrown. the railsides are given a wash of tamiya nato brown, and in some plases dry brushed with a lighter rust colour. |

The track looks great Andy and the last two buildings are coming along, I like the shape of them as they are pleasing to the eye and the building adds a lot of height to the layout.

I just like to pop back every few days, to see what progress you have made.
Just keeping "TRACK" of you, so to speak.....[:-smile_green]
Looking good, mate.[:-spin]

thanks guys
wes i have yet to order them, its quite hard to narrow down my list to fit the space. ive worked out 3 i can have behind the garage (bench. pile-of engines and a dumped car, all to be main points between other junk) but there are so meny other temptaions.
ron, i agree. i was also very clear from the offset that that building would be sticking much ferther out to hopfuly block the strightness of the back of the layout. and balance hight at that end of the layout, since there will be one large tree to hide a 90' corner in the backboard, and again another tree right at the end.
i was right that i thought i didnt have enough wood, alas the store didnt have enought of the size i wanted but managed to do one wall of the farm supply. so the back wall will have to be done with thicker timber, hopfuly this wont be too noticable. |
