For lifting clapboards, I use Brett's method (Sierra West) : slip an x-acto blade under the base of the board and lift it delicately. Works very well.

Kris and Frederic, Thanks for the tips. I have played around with it a bit this evening and have painted and weathered 2 of the walls already.

Cheers,
Jeroen |

Well done, Jeroen. Red is not an easy colour. You've weathered it very nicely.

Coming together very nicely Jereon.
Its a great looking little structure. The weathered red has come out extremely well.
One detail I might suggest you add - especialy if you're thinking lots of moss and rain - is downpipes. Typically a building like this would have central gutters in every valley flowing both to the front and the back of the building, so you would really need downpipes on both the front and back walls (if both will be visible when viewed). A small detail, but one I would imagine a lot of people would notice if it was missing. If you deciede to go the whole hog and put in central gutters as well, remember they must be put on first and the corrigated iron lapped over the top.
Cheers, Mark. |

Here’s a link to a seaplane airline that operated between south Florida and the Bahamas for over 80 years.

the first time I posted this it said I had an error so I reposted it and now I have 2. [:-banghead]
This is a great idea for a build, wish I'd thought of it! |

Hi Jack, Sorry for the delay ... as Martin mentioned already, I have been on holiday for the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately I have had to put this small layout on hold. First of all, my work had me travelling all over Africa for the major part of 2011. This slowed down my modelling efforts, but in between these trips I somehow managed to arrange a new addition to our family ... This meant that we had to do an internal move at our place and I spent most of my time at home redoing the bedrooms of the kids. It also meant that I had to give up my hobby room and needed to move all my stuff to the attic. At the end of April of this year my beautiful daughter was born and things are slowly going back to normal. I have started to do a bit of modelling again and am also freeing up some space for a workbench in my home office. Not quite sure when I will pick up the Dutch Inlet Canning Co., but must say that the link to the DHC-2 Beaver floatplane is very useful. Thanks for that!!
Cheers,
Jeroen |

Jeroen - Many thanks for your reply - glad to hear that your new daughter is doing fine - I see that Osborn model kits also do a Cessna and have emailed to inquire if it is possible to obtainn the kit, together with the float assembly from the Beaver - it wont be quite accurate, but might make up a second /alternative floatplane - he is away until the 8th Aug so I await a reply - I'll update when I know Best Jack |
