Making chairs for the dining section of the private car. These need clean-up but here's what I have.
On the left is a chair made from the old mold and used in several structures. I
wanted a little more ornate chair so I just made a new back piece . That produces the
middle chair. While making the back piece I made a pair of arms just in case I need a
chair with arms, that's the chair on the right.

I can now cast as many as I need.

I have been posing Charlie along side most of the structures on this string to give a sense
of size. Again, Charlie is a G scale figure, 3 inches tall, which is 6 feet tall in 1/24 scale.

But the backdrop structure is not intended for that overall view, it is meant to be a background
for closer in shots such as this.

And even better, this.

Cheers,
Bob

Got some furniture made for the private car. The chairs of course are my resin castings. The
little roll-top desk (it seems like every private car needed a desk) and the sideboard are
simply made from styrene. I still need to add some bottles, dishes, etc., to the open area of
the sideboard. The dining table looks rather bare. I will have to add either place settings
or at least some sort of centerpiece.

Thanks Greg. Here's what they look like in place from each side and from above.

As an aside, I should mention. It is not my intention to run over and remove the roof
of the car every time it is seen. I intend to leave it at what you can see through the
windows. That makes a difference in how much detail will be seen.

Since you asked about te brown color of the paneling a while back I should mention that
I tired of using the spray I told you about. It usually took overnight to dry. I found I can
match it by using Model Master Dark Brown #2096 followed be a clear coat. That's
what I used on all the furniture.
Cheers,
Bob

You know Bob,it's interesting watching you go about the building of this fine car.
You started this project like anyone would have I guess, building the base/floor with the trucks.
you then proceeded in an entirely different way of building then I think most of us would have.
Instead of building the outside walls of this car you started with the interior walls & now even the furnishings.
Not that there is anything wrong with this approach,I would have built the car first and then the interior walls and then furnishings.
Your methodology seems to be working just fine regardless.

And easy for viewers like us to see! [:-bigeyes2]
Speaking of see,I just had a thought.
Wouldn't it be neat to build a see through car, with clear plastic on the sides.
And I am not suggesting that you do it to this project Bob.
Just something that popped into my head, when you were talking about seeing the interiors through the windows.
The furniture all looks great, in their proper places.
Not crowded looking at all, still plenty of room to move around.

Hmm ... I wonder if this means that we should be buildings our structures inside-out! [:-bulb] Of course, some of us actually do that too. Have seen it done on a number of enginehouses, sawmills, machine shops, etc., where all of the interior pieces are considered and built as part of the overall construction process. Seems like there's some kinda unfinished project like that with only two walls but at least some start of the interior around here. [:-blindfold]

And, for those new to this thread or just dropping by ... Bob posted a very clever solution to building the interior of a structure on the outside, where it's a good bit easier to reach things. Photo above shows pull-out drawers that slide into the back of one of his structures so the interiors could be removed/replaced for proper detailing. This one is a gem! [:-bulb] That discussion started back on page 25 of this thread ... (this photo came from p. 26)

I have not yet had the time to repaint the figures for this project but I have been
planning what I want to do. I still have to make the beard on Greg but I
have made a change on the LP&N Owner himself. While looking trough
my stash of figures I came across this old cartoonish figure. I've had it for years but
all of a sudden, it says "RR BARON" to me, I just have to use it. It looks nothing like the
real Bob Santos but so be it.

I also need a cook and I really like the figure, Ken the Cook, that Joe Crea created for
Fine Art Models. The problem is that he is designed for 1:20.3 scale and is way too big
for 1/24 scale. I like him so I ordered one and will see if I can somehow cut him down to size.
