Hello Gord, good to know you !!

Now for a big misconception you seem to have. Where did you get the idea that us retired folk have a lot of time/

Just kidding, happy to have you on board and please, if I can do anythig to help you, just let me know.

Bob

Haven't posted in a while. Been busy making TONS of small stuff to put into the hardware
store. The results are piles of little details but not much new added to the structure yet.

This is the back wall of the ground floor. I'm not near done adding "stuff" yet but I'm
getting there.

The counter/showcase will be about here. I cannot add it yet because it would be in the
way of adding stuff at the back. I also need to fill that glass case part.

Part of the counter. Note cash register, small flags, paper, pencils, and cigarettes and
cigarette butts in the ashtray. ALMOST EVERYONE SMOKED BACK IN THE '40'S.

Another "problem" came up while making detail parts. I have done structures before that are
run down and everything is rusty. Now I want this to be an old store but the stuff inside, while
old, is new stock to be sold, not rusted out. I may make all a bit dusty but not worn and rusty.
It takes a bit of control to do that and not go overboard with the grime.

Bob

SLo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-wly I fill the shelves in the hardware store. Actually, I've made tons of
small stuff to go in there. I am waiting until I get some tools made too.

Here's my styrene masters for some of my 1/24 scale tools I made, I will cast what I need in
resin. Don't be too critical, they are TINY!! I'm sure they will look OK when painted.

Hopefully, next time I post some photos, at least the ground floor will be more complete.
Cheers,
Bob

Hey Bob, I think the tools look great!
And the store seems to be filling up quite nicely.
Looks like the kind of place I could find that hard to find part I am looking for.
If I could only snoop through some of those boxes behind the counter.

Gord, The fastestway to find a lost watchamacallit (spelling??), or any other lost tool
or item, is to go out and buy a new one. When you put the new one away, there will be the
lost one sitting, waiting for you to find it.

Ask me how I know....[:-banghead]

When I started posting these photos I was going to say "the ground floor is now done" but as
soon as I thought it I remembered several things that I wanted to add. No problem, using the
drawer method it's easy to add details at any time (like the grabber pole!!).

That being said, the ground floor is basically done and I will add a few minor details and
move on up to the second floor.

Cheers,

Bob

Wow Bob --

That's really great ... I can tell right away that I'm in a cigar shop ... no, wait, this isn't the cigar shop ... what did I come in here for? Musta needed a pipe wrench or something ... lemme think ... hey, these are cool, and I'll take one of those and a pound of nails ...

LOTS of cool stuff setting the scene ... and those safety treads on the stairs are a neat touch too. I remember some being rubber and some being like a sandpaper/grit material ... LOADS of atmosphere here!

Also, nice job on mixing colors ... most of the items are rather subdued with only a few bright-colored objects and they all play together very nicely.

My goodness Bob, you sure do work very fast!
The store looks even more fantastic, and it nice to finally see some help behind the counter.
He better put one of those pencils behind his ear and get to work.
Perhaps now I can find that hard to find part I am looking for.

Bob I just came across your thread and although I haven't finished it all yet I do want to say I'm finding great enjoyment seeing and reading about your layout and appreciate you sharing. Keep posting please.
I just purchased all of Rusty Stumps Kelly's Landing series for my layout and I'm getting a lot of great ideas from you.
Thanks

Thanks for your comments guys, they are very much appreciated.

I did get a few more things hanging in the store and I did get a couple of those "grabber
poles" made.

I think I will let the ground floor go for a while and move up stairs.

Cheers,

Bob
