Thanks guys, you are real cute!!!
Here's a few early shots of the interiors. The furniture is just loosly set in place, it will
not be glued in until it is painted and detailed.
By the way, I had cut the front upper corners off the side walls to make it easier to slide
them into the structure, that will never be seen, but I find it is not neccessary, they pull
in and out without a problem.
There will be a show case/counter added to both floors.
This is the upper floor.

Had a chance to work on the exterior a bit. Finished applying and painting the bricks
and then adding the capping on top of the walls. I also have the plumbing vent pipe ready
but forgot to glue it in place before I took these photos. Also added downspouts, electric meter, and rear door.
I am a big fan of those old "ghost signs" that were painted on the sides of brick buildings.
That will be my next job, to make a few sign decals to add, I sure have enough brick area.

Got a few decals made and applied to the structure. It does not show well in these
photos but the decals did snuggle down quite well into the mortar lines and look good to the eye.
Which brings up something I often get on a soap box about. The reason I like the N Scale Architect
brick material is because the mortar lines, while there, are not a scale canyon as is true with most
other brick materials. It looks true to scale. If you get back far enough from a
real brick wall you cannot detect the way over scale deep mortar lines as depicted on most materials.[:-bigmouth]

sign for your model work and can't find one you like, let me know. I have a collection of well
over a thousand that I have gathered over the years. I also have tons of magazine covers, posters,
newpaper pages, etc. that I can supply in .jpg format, free of charge.

Frederic and Dallas, thanks, but SHUCKS!! you are making me reveal my secret and I wanted
everyone to think I am a great painter.
I am embarrassed to tell you how easy it is.
1. As you can see in the photo of the unpainted front, the brick material is white styrene. I
brush paint that with Poly Scale Panzer Red Brown keepimg the brush strokes horizontal.
If you have ever brush painted white styrene with a dark color you know how streaked and
terrible looking the results are. I let it dry.
2. I mix a thin wash of water, a bit of Jo Sonja's Flow Medium (I think a dot of dishwasher
soap would work too) and a small bit of IVORY Delta Creamcoat acrylic paint.
3. I wash this mixture over the streaked paint job and let it dry.
THAT'S IT!!!!
The ivory paint settles into the mortar lines and also enough stays on the brick surface to
blend all together and make it look like varied brick and not a streaky paint job.[:-angel]
Once in a while I have used a second wash coat but that is really because I had the first wash
too thin.

Besides getting the furniture painted I added the ladder to the roof at the head of the stairs.
I also added two rolling ladders in front of each set of cabinet drawers. I remember them as
a kid. They run on a brass rail at the top and have little wheels at the bottom so they can be
rolled back and forth to access all the little drawers.
The shelving will not have those ladders, I remember the clerks had a long wooden device
with two jaws at the top and a squeeze handle at the bottom to operate those jaws. They
would grab stuff on the top shelves, pull them loose to fall, and catch them. A real "show"
for an amazed kid to watch.
The next thing I want to get done is to make the show case/counters, one set for each floor.
Once that's done I can concentrate on all the little goodies to fill the place to capacity.
One other thing. You may notice that I added a pay phone just inside the door. Because of that
I also added a "Bell Telephone Sign" outside the front door. That was always done to let people
know there was a pay phone inside.
