To answer some good questions:

LGB did a toy range called Gnomy, I bought a caboose and fitted an old Hornby coach truck on the bottom and some kadees mounted on plasticard.
A google search found this page: http://on30center.com/on30/library/articles/pd/gcb.html which gives more info on the subject. When I bashed a Gnomy van, I used this method.
I also bought some Gnomy cars last weekend with the intention of using one for a railtruck.

It is a Backwoods Miniatures 2-6-0 engine bought RTR. It can be found here:http://www.backwoodsminiatures.com/0n3rtr.htm. A kit version can also be found on the On3/On30 page near the bottom.
The tender I use is a EDM resin kit found here: http://www.ngtrains.com/Pages/EDM_Models/edm_kits.htm

Ah yes, I do like diesels. Heres a picture of my (still growing!) diesel fleet:

The white engine is now yellow to fit with the others.
Also, a close up of my Bachmann Plymouth bash with an attempt at heavy weathering:

Some more odds and ends for you to look at:
After 6 months of putting it off, I have weathered my 2-6-6-2.

All my locos are weathered with a black acrylic wash with a hint of grey. Sorry for the lack of light in the picture. The best camera I have is on my phone!
To make one of my boxcars different from the rest I used some plasticard to make an outside framed door. Does anyone know of a prototype for this?

For those interested in my Gnomy bashes, heres some more pics.

This the van I mentioned earlier.

Enjoy.

Hey everyone!
'Planning permission' has been granted for a major extention to the layout.
Here is the current track plan:

The bottom and the left side will be forest to blend in with the backdrop. The layout will be viewed from the inside of the L shape.
I am quite keen on taking this to some exhibitions aswell.
The plan also shows a water tower. I would like to make this operate so I can sinc it with the sound function on some of my locos for added amusement.
I would really like to know your thoughts on this. |

| Are you planning on operating it at the shows? If so, do you plan on building some kind of cassette for the run arounds? |

Thanks for you comments guys. It means alot.
Geezer, I have heard them called smelly weasels before, but not D-cells, I may have to use that one.
Jim, I do hope to take it to some shows one day, as I have always enjoyed operating other peoples layouts at shows, as I'm told I'm quite good at it (so much for the short attention span of the 'youf'!).
I do intend in making some fiddle yards with the cassette system for shows; although I haven't put much thought into it as I have nowhere to put them!

I would suggest the idea of increased freight flows, or have an industry on your railroad that produces a bulk freight for it to pull. It's the right loading gauge, so thats a good start. It would be interesting to see you make it look more maine like. |

Hi Max,
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing the pics and the video. Am I right in thinking that your layout, or part of it, is built into the bottom half of a bunk bed? That's a neat idea to save space [:-bulb]

Yes, the first part of my layout is in the area of the bottom half of my bunk bed. However it is on its own separate baseboard so I can view it when sitting and it is not too low.
In a bed room that is roughly 9ft x 10ft, I need all the space I can get!
Today, me and my dad built the baseboard for the new logging module. Unlike the trackplan I posted above, it is symmetrical and the top crossover is excluded for another module.

See if you can spot all the railway related items in my room. |
