Bill, you better go back and check your records as I think you may find Ralph to be not only a Charter Member, but member #1!
Just kidding Ralph! I give you a lot of credit for your persistance! |

I am just back from spending 3 days with my Dad, so little progress. Unfortuneatly, my Dad's 92 brother passed away while we were visiting. I at least got to say goodby, so our trip was perfectly timed, but I must return for a funeral.
I had some aspect issues with signal 1531 in direct drive mode. Bill found some issues and is guiding me through the solution. It looks like I won't get to touch this until Friday.
I hope to get signal and switrch lever 164 working, but I may have just run out of time. There a are a lot of trains to check out and track cleaning, paperwork issues, etc to prepare to be ready to operate.
My sessions are more like debugging sesions. I have a long list of things to fix, which is why I have them so infrequently. |

Well, this weekend I faced a decision. I had hoped to get OS 164 (Laurel Run) operating for the debugging (OP) session Aug 7. I decided to put it on the back burner and just concentrate on layout things. As I was running a test train, I found that the turnout at Laurel Run was inoperable.
This turnout is controlled by a DS 54 stationary decoder. My decision was whether I should spend the time to troubleshoot this, or use the time to connect it to the CTC machine. No easy decision since I estimated the total time would be 4 to 7 hours. I got brave and had at it.
I already had the CTC machine input levers wired up and working for this OS. None of the indicator lamps on the CTC machine are connected. I figured I could do this. I also figured I could install the SMINI output wires for the turnout and signal 1641.
I had partial success. I was able to make the connections and get the switch motor to operate when the CTC machine is in direct drive (a test mode) This removes some of the programming to make it easier to check things. My problem is I cannot seem to get the code button identified.
I had identified this button contact earlier in the summer and need to get this part of the circuit working for the turnout to work in normal mode. I then need to get the lever lamps to work. I got the normal lamp working, but the reverse lamp proves elusive.
If I run out of time, I will just disconnect the motor from the CMRI system, and wire in a DPDT toggle. Nothing like a deadline to make you have some progress. :) |

| Yo! I'm not feelin' the love here! Firstly, maybe Hueber won't be controlling the railroad, it might be Sandy! Secondly, maybe we can talk Tony into dispatching while we look over his shoulder and see how the professionals do it! Hueber (I'm having a BAAAAD week, so don't _ _ _ _ with me!) |
