I have the computer connected back to the CMRI and CTC machine. So over tax season when I have some time, I can install signals between Crestwood and Solomon's Gap.So some progress will be made, but it will be slow.

I managed to get all caught up at work after working the last 2 Saturdays and last Sunday. So I will have Sat off to work on the layout.

I hope to build the signals at Solomon's Gap, and if things go right, hook em up to the CMRI system.

Sunday is a milestone birthday for my wife so I will be helping her celebrate. No modeling that day...well maybe if she takes a nap.

I spent yesterday hooking up and running the wires to power turnout motor 160 at Solomon's gap. As I remember from my testing of switch motor 153 that I was having trouble # 160 worked perfectly.

I hooked it up and nothing![:-banghead]

Checked everything out and I am pretty sure I have it right. I will recheck everything again. The program Bill wrote for me has # 160 connected to pins 2 and 3 of card 1 port A of the SMINI. I disconnected the wiring and hooked a test lead to pins 2 and 3 and they are both grounded. Well the machine won't work that way. I think this only happens when the SMINI thinks it is in local control, which is not hooked up. Then pin 4, which is the local control pin takes over. I need to review everything.

It was good to be in the basement after working 13 of the last 14 days.

I will have to follow up with some other debugging. But at least there was a little progess.

Well I finally got around to getting over to Ralph's and putting the new panels on the CTC machine. They look great and its' kinda fun sittin' there playin' with the switch and signal levers. Ralph and I also got the switch at Solomons Gap, switch 160, working and the signal too. But, the signal is giving an incorrect signal light in one position, all other positions are correct. Here are some photos of the panels for Conrail Bill to study and 2 of the lit signal. The photos were taken with a flash and ambient light, sorry for the quality. Thanks Chuck. That sounds like an old Virginia Slims commercial! [:-angel]

Thanks to Joey too. I can make a lot more progress when I have help. Plus Hueber makes me explain myself to justify why something will work or not when hooking up the wiring.

If I can show Joey who knows nothing about electronics how something works, and he understands, then I can validate my own thinking.

It is a process that worked for us when we re wired the electrical cabinet of LV C-420 # 414.

I hope to build and install the eastbound signal (1602) for Solomon's Gap this Sunday. It is an exciting project. Joe is right. There is an awful lot of play value in running this machine. Plus I think the crews will enjoy it too. I'll leave it to Tony L., Mark F., Steamnut and others to judge that. Maybe, we might even get ole Mark to take a stint behind that machine. He is an excellent dispatcher in his own right.

One problem though. When, Hueber gets overloaded, he can set all the signals to stop, walk away with a cup of coffee and talk to my wife Sandy. Sandy (who is uber organized) expressed interest in taking a stint at the machine one day. Pity the fool who screws up when she is running the RR. I'll be safe this time. I only answer questions. I won't be in train service.

I'd love to get behind the machine one day Ralph! It's looking good. I can't wait to see the lights in action.

That's funny, Ralph! Actually, the image I have in my mind is the one where you are sitting at your dining room table, dispatching off a sheet of paper. It's night and day compared to this panel.

It does sound like fun....but, also intimidating.

Nah. Chuck, Sandy can probably handle it with 1 hand tied behind her back.

Tony, I'll tell her that. Also, this project is all your fault. You convinced me that this was necessary at last March's RPM meet. I'll get even.[:-angel]

Unexpected day off in tax season. TYuk, but next week looks like I will get bombed based on appointments scheduled Friday afternoon. I put the time off to goo use, getting signal 1602 built, and working. All aspects are correct based on CTC machine settings.

Plus I figured out how to post pictures with my new software. But for some reason, I can't get the image to appear in the post.

Ralph, I think it might be the file name. I don't think you can use "%" symbols in the name.

I had time today to build and install signal 1532. But I can't get it working because it is programmed to the next SMINI (node 2)

I still can't get pics to post. I don't see anything wrong locoman, thanks for the help. I've posted hundreds of pics to this site. The only thing new is the computer.
