Graffen,I like your model work. How do you get that "atmosphere" in your photos that include your industrial buildings. Are you a heavy smoker? I like that effect. Bill in Idaho |

Mostly a case of much light... :-) Haven't smoked in three years now (proud of that!), but I have used a cool mist humidifier in some pics I've taken of the layout. It produces a lovely fog. |

I've decided to hand build all the turnouts and most of the tracks on the new layout. There has been a lot of thinking behind the decision, but the peer pressure made me go for it!
I have invested in some track roller gauges, turnout PC and wood ties and some ME nails! To avoid strange errors in the gauge I ordered a brand new NMRA gauge as well..... I just laid an order for 700 foot of Code 70 and 55 rails. A friend of mine is selling them.... Now to get the 1/2" Plywood for the benchwork from my local builders merchant.... I hope I can get some of the benchwork started in the next week or so... |

| I think you'll like the results of handbuilding. Plus I think they are easier to adjust if needed. I've been using the fast tracks jigs and instructions. Be sue to print out their instructions AND watch the videos online. Very informative.Sposed to have big Thunderstorms here this evening. Had a loud and bright one last night around 11PM . Thanks Bill, I think I will like doing the turnouts! :-) I just received the roller gauges from Railway engineering, so I will try to start the build of a regular #6 turnout first. :-) |

Great trackplan. It was a nice transformation from the first draft.
I'm looking forward to watching this develop. |

Hi all! :) I'm about to start my new layout, it will have hand laid track and switches. Code 70 for the main (okay it's a small shortline....) and 55 for the sidings..... To give me as much fun to build as soon as possible. I bought me some rails, spikes and PC and wooden ties ..... The track is from a very old stock, I use Railway engineering's Rail rollers and my NMRA track template for the actual construction .... This is the first attempt:
The move from 'ordinary' HO 16.5 mm to 16.2 mm, is probably the way to go ...... I'm happy to report that the cars equipped with code 88 wheels roll super smooth thru it. |

| You're all around, so prolific at this. I'm envious, and inspired. Track planning is a favorite pastime for me, and I'm very impressed with those drawings, amongst all your other cool accomplishments. |
