Thanks Ian... had remembered the clothes line, but not the water barrels! The thing I'm looking most forward to in the years to come is the detailing. That period when all major elements are in place, all structures and scenery... just to be be full time detailing...

Here the new baby houses are in their future, still unscenicked spots.. I'll give the left one some support posts and trellis/lattice below the front and a staircase up from the road below. Both houses will have small trees and dense shrubbery right behind them. What a view of the cove the residents must have!

I'm quite envious of the view the residents have.

I agree on the view, Troels and Steve.
Nice setting for these two nice houses. With the lattice underneath, it will be even nicer.

I've uploaded some test video shots of the Teal's Cove Station and the Tesdorf Weavery on YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiPQ0t1jwJk

Really pushes me to get that landscaping going again... there's eleven degrees C in the train shed now... almost bearable to work there again. Speaking of the cold, the dry winter air has dried out and shrunk the half inch ply roadbed so much, that at some places long stretches of track have begun undulating between tacks! I'll have to shorten tracks in places, hoping that summer humidity doesn't make too big gaps again... Isn't winter just fun? [:-grumpy]

Troels, I enjoyed that video.

As a person who enjoys photography and taking pictures of layouts, I like how on your layout you can shoot from a low angle.
Often when I do that, I can see above the top of the backdrop and or see the lights above.
You have designed your layout to to avoid this. This is something I will have to remember when I design and build my layout.

Bravo once again-how will you make the transition to the backdrop?

Troels, while I was watching again your last pictures, one detail jumped to my eye.

I suppose these trees are painted to the backdrop. They are amazingly realistic!!!

Following a suggestion of Darryl Huffman, I was making a search of Flickr with the keywords : 'fishing shack' and I fell upon this nice store that might inspire you :

I enjoyed the video. I must say that the more complete the layout is, the more realistic the backdrop becomes. It really gives the illusion of distance!

Well, Frédéric has just discovered the method I'll use... I will fill the background with trees and shrubbery, both painted and 3D. A lot of photos of the Maine coast seen from the sea has that woodland background. And the painted part works quite well also when seen somewhat from the side, as in the example Frédéric quotes.

Well, it's been a while since I've said how nice things look ... so, I'll go ahead and say it again! Always enjoy dropping in on the Coast Line, and it's great to see the village shaping up nicely. Thanks for your continuing efforts to share ideas, techniques and the fabulous progress!

And, tonight while looking, I realized that while much of the scenery looks familiar, it has been about 20 years since I've been to Maine ... guess I'll have to head north again, meanwhile nice to visit so easily by traveling around the globe on the internet. (Hmm, Maryland to Maine via Sweden ... I know there's a shorter way ... but visiting your layout is much more fun than driving!)

Cheers,
Dallas
