Based on your comments, it looks like Pvts D. Emery and Pvt M. McGuirk will be the next entries to this scene.

And if you continue to be naughty, there is always the firing squad scene.....

I discussed this in a blog post here. http://usmrr.blogspot.com/2012/03/pink-no-more.html

Very impressive work. My favorite part is the way you transitioned the scenery into the backdrop. I will be referencing this thread as well as your blog site often while I am doing the backdrop and then the scenery transition.

The only thing I noticed that I could possibly offer any input on are the sacks on the loading dock. They have nice shape but are very smooth. If you take a small piece of single ply tissue lay it on the bag and paint it it will follow the contour of the bag and give a nice burlap texture.

Good idea. I am going to try that. I am not totally happy with the way the polymer clay sacks came up. Your idea may do the trick.

Amazing work! And I love your ballasting, or lack upon depending on how one sees it.

The Texas goes great together with the scenes. The blue in the russian iron looks a little more subdued then when I saw pictures of it on SMR trains website.

Hakan,
I had originally planned to reletter the Texas and the General to be USMRR engines. But with a fourth SMR loco on order that will be custom painted for the USMRR, and a start at scratchbuilding my own loco, I may not reletter the Texas or the General as I will have enough engines for my layout.

So I can either sell these off, or use them in a W&A scene. The Texas and the General are the best runners I have though, so it is a tough call. We will have to see how the conversion to battery power affects things.

Looks great! I especially like the guy with the checkered shirt. How on earth did you do that? Fine tip pen?

I have followed your blog on improving the performance on the SMR masons. I'm just curious to what makes the Texas and General better performers?

I painted the shirt with a fine brush (10 O I think) I use a very thin paint and go slow. Check out the flag man with the striped pants on my blog.

The General and the Texas have better clearance between the cylinders and the front truck. So they can track tight curves better and don't short against the frame on tight curves.

The Potomac Creek bridge scene is almost done. Until the waterfront is complete, this is the signature scene on the layout.

I am letting the base scenery dry before adding the last layer of grass and weeds. Then I'll pour the creek. I plan to make an acrylic "dam" at the fascia to avoid the leak problem I had last time. I use a textured fascia paint and masking tape did not make an effective seal on its rough surface.
