Thanks for all the support. For those interested in the "textures" approach, the best place I found is a site www.cgtextures.com. You can download free, up to 15mb of high resolution texture images. The selection of wood is just incredible, not to mention the other types of materials, and even complete building elevations available. New images are being added all the time. The site even has some tutorials on photographing your own. I have been approached by a number of people to put together clinic on how I approach this technique for modeling. I plan to initially make a power point slide show to share in the not to distant future. Right now I am outlining the best way to convey the information - its not rocket science just a series of simple steps. Scott

Great progress Scott! Great buildings to go along with a great track plan. I can't wait to see the final results!

Scott, that's another great building. The texture effect is very convincing on the pictures. How would you estimate the viewing distance when you begin to see that this is only 2-dimensionnal texture?

Fredric: I have been told that from 18" to 2-ft. the effect is very convincing, and most of the time it is only after I tell them that its paper that the viewer has to do the "finger" test.

Scotts buildings get allot of "Finger Testing" Even people who have been modeling for a very long time have to touch it to believe it.

Happy Holidays to all. It is a beautiful day in the Sacramento CA region, so I thought I would share a few shots of my latest addition to the wharf - the Water Rat Tavern. When installed it will straddle about 1/3 on land. My next efforts will be to finish up the pilings around the wharf, and then on to a light house structure (ala Troels model inspiration.

Scott,
Great addition to the end of the wharf. So are you going to detail the inside of the Tavern with the local crowd?

Scott, very nice set of buildings, can't wait until I see how you site them into your layout.
