Well, I officially have run out of space to place structures. I finally finished the wharf area (see attached pics). I guess my modeling now will involve rebuilding structures and lighting / sound some time in the future. Unfortunately (...fortunately?), I have lots of ideas I want to explore so it may also be diorama time, starting with the "wedding cake" desert scene discussed above. Scott

I must say, whoever made that Coast Guard 38 foot boat is a true artist and craftsman. And a shameless boaster.

Seriously Scott, your layout is always a great treat to see! Lighting and animation would be cool!

Scott...
Super work the mix of color and building angles really make the scenes. The Coast Guard boat is swell too. Is that a kit? I noticed there was an inside comment there. It appears to be on that is sold as a kit. I have been interested in that hull for not Coast Guard activities.

Thanks for all the comments. The boat was built by a Coast Guard friend of mine (el cadar). He found this Picket Boat kit online and thought it would be great for my wharf scene. He constructed and gifted it to me and I weather it up and created the rum running back story (guy in boat is tied up along with his rum barrels, police on dock waiting to arrest). Anyway, it is a kind gift and I appreciated it very much. I no longer have the boat kit box, so I do not know the manufacture. Perhaps EL Cadar can provide more info. Scott

Scott,

I run a home for wayward O scale structures that are unloved and unwanted. You may donate any unneeded structures to me. They will be well-taken care of.

Scott, great looking scenes...and I love the story of rum-running to add some "local flavor' to the dock scene. Congratulations on 'completing' the layout, that is a milestone few of us achieve. The desert mini-mine layout will be very interesting to watch develop.

38' CG Picket Boat came from Jac Ship Models:

http://www.jacmodel.net/catpaypal.htm

It is of layered balsa construction. I found it on eBay, but didn't see anything there today, so I searched for the product.

Always nice to see your work, Scott. Sometimes I think of the day there won't be any room left to add a structure in my own work, but considering my pace, that shouldn't happen before the next century...

Great cluster of buildings there. I want to take some time and go through the whole thread.

The Losten Foundry cracked me up.
