Thanks for all the feed back. The caboose on the module is from Bachman. After sanding off some lettering, I just brush painted it with various colors starting with a wash of tan/grey, then a darker grey dry brushed, then the green. Paint is right our of the bottle -cheap craft paints. I also do not wait very long (minutes) for the paint to dry. Weathering is weathering chalks. I finish with a little white dry brush. The roof is masking tape painted and weathered. I added the stack to add a little interest. All in all I had it finished in about 1-hour. The fallen log is some sort of vegetable roof a friend of mine gave me after a trip where he was walking around next an old field of brockolli or asperagus - he said it was everywhere. It was too big for his HO scale layout so he gave it to me. The shack roof is a salvage job from another building I tore up. It is made from cut veneer strips used to finish shelving and the like. When I washed it with an ink mix it started warping. I need to glue the strips back down again. Scott

I am back working inside on my home layout, trying to "finish" a few scenes before my open house in July during the NMRA convention. The following pictures show the small urban engine service facility that maintains the local switch engine. The water tank / storage facility building pulls double duty, as it is also used on one of my modules. Scott

Scott, wonderful modeling, each scene feels like a real place. I like the congested clutter of your latest scene, with the derelict passenger car wedged in between the tanks. Fantastic!

I noticed you have a four-pawed helper in one photo guarding your module...

Beautiful modelling on both the home layout and the modules, Scott. Thanks for taking the time to post the images. So much to look at. Very impressive! [:-apple][:-apple]

All your scenes show a great attention to detail, a great will to do your best, and since your best is quite good, it is a pleasure to watch your models.

After completing the engine house area, the small triangle in the front looked to empty for my taste. Therefore, I decided to fill the space with a little shed. I liked the exposed wood roof so much I decided I am going to add some rolls of tar paper and some tar buckets around the base to lend the idea of the roof about to be re-papered. I plan on adding some other "junk" also. Thanks for the comments, I really get a lot of ideas and techniques out of this Forum-from everybody. I just like to share back. Scott

Wow...a definitive 'foreground model' as a simple shed with interesting details. I love the grass, too. Outstanding!
