Vincent Lake Short Line 3rd. Edition
Last June I removed all my track work and roadbed of the old Vincent Lake Short Line. I was not happy with the layout. [:-cry]
Yesterday I began the new VSLS ... pictures to follow .... |

Here are some pictures of my progress to date. Please excuse the mess on the floor but I wanted to get these pictures posted.
I plan on three levels but the plywood is on one until I draw my track plan on it. I will then use the cookie cutter method for the elevations.

The area I am working with is 15 feet by 12 feet. The layout is somewhat irregular due to some plumbing and the furnace.
I will be hand laying my rail Code 83 using Fast Track's turnouts #5 and some stub turnouts.
My theme is backwoods New Brunswick during the 1920 - 1930 era. |

Tom, I see you have jumped right in with both feet, bench work is going well. Do you have a track plan yet or are you winging it based on previous attempts? Keep at it, look forward to your progress reports.

Tom; that irregular benchwork might be just the ticket for a very unique track routing and scenery making. I look forward to seeing your imagination unfold on this new layout! Randy May |
Are we having fun yet? |

Mark:
There is a track plan that Larry (Big Lars) helped me with. Now that I have firmed up the benchwork measurements I can carry on with the track plan.
I can now get 24" radius curves and a continuous run around.
Randy: I hope to get in many curves so that track does not appear to have long straight runs. |

Thanks for the comments ...
Sully: the benchwork is always fun for me.
Les: there will be water, and at least 3 RR bridges and a small trestle. I will also use the 4 tunnel portals I built in the spring and perhaps a snow shed.
I have a few 1:1 projects and a turkey to eat today. I'll try and get a sketch and the dimensions of the benchwork posted later.
As always, I am open to suggestions. |
