Well I am all caught up on your progress and congrats on obtaining your goal. I agree with turning the yard around, sometimes Mark you need to stand on your head and look at your layout to come up with those good ideas.
Nothing better than seeing someone tear into their layout to make it better for operations, it all makes sense to me.
Now when it comes to the size of layout you are building you must learn to crack the whip hard on the worker bees.[:-eyebrows] If that doesn't work promise them a nice gift for Christmas, you don't have to say what year.

Thanks guys! Tim, your right! It's not the first time I've torn something out because it just didn't seem right, and I'm sure it won't be the last time either.
I've made a little bit of progress since the last update, but nothing really photo worthy - yet! I'm finishing up the last little bit of benchwork so I can call that phase complete. Then it will be backdrops and fascia, but before I can do the backdrops, I need to get the ceiling grid in place, which will hopefully happen in the next week or two. Stay tuned! |

Welcome back, Mark! Just think of how much stuff you'd have had to tear out before rotating that yard 180 degrees if you hadn't been in a funk all Summer but had been going full throttle.
We've been meaning to convene a meeting of the Procrastinators Club out here in Pittsburgh, but never seem to get a round tuit.

Hey Pat! Thanks for the kind words. You know, if you can give the guys a push, I'd sure appreciate it. Us management guys can do some things but I gotta tell you, there's nothing better than having the REAL workers on site getting the job done! 
I know I haven't updated the website in a while. It's on the 'to-do' list. Even though you can't tell from the website, as you can see here, I am making progress. With winter quickly approaching, the rate of progress should increase in the coming months. I guess a photo update is due! |

Well, despite all the encouragement and pleas to update, Mark has failed to keep us in the loop regarding his layout...but that's about to come to a crashing end.
Feeling intrepid and daring, and not having seen this "work in progress" for some time, I went over last evening, managed to slip past the basement security system and was immediately shocked to discover that the reason for all the secrecy lately is that he's apparently changed the name of the railroad:
To be truthful, our man is in something of a funk lately, so I thought that maybe, possibly prodding him here will get the juice flowing again. Yes, it's still in the dreaded "benchwork" phase, but to these eyes, the possibilities are incredible....here's a random sampling of photos I managed to take before the security forces "escorted" me off the premises; I'll let Mark fill in the explanations:

Sometimes all we need is an outsider's perspective on what we're doing to recharge the old motivational batteries; there's a TON of scenic and operational possibilities just waiting to be exploited...can't wait to get started making buildings for Sunbury!

Interventions are good!
Here's a suggestion, Mark ... have a couple of truncated operating sessions on a part of the layout that will support them. My friend Dick Flock did that on his massive Cumberland & Lake Erie with good results.

My sentiments EXACTLY, Steam....I've got TONS of cardstock, sidings, windows, doors, and a whole array of glues and adhesives just itching for a place to be used....
