Frederic:
Thanks for your comments. They are very much appreciated.
We were in Toronto, recently, when a fierce thunderstorm rolled through, and my wife, Megan, shot some video of lightening striking the CN Tower. I caught a still from one of those clips.
Enjoy.

We recently took a vacation up around Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta and then over behind the Redwood Curtain on the north coast of CA. We especially enjoyed wandering around the small town of Ferndale. A little town dating from the heyday of the Victorian age of opulence in buildings. Being in the center of the Redwood Country the builders had access to an over-abundance of redwood mills and mill-works supplying decorative wood to the world and went overboard. Hence these pictures. Not any great attempt to make works of art, but just neat things. Feel free to check the other galleries. The RR related galleries are well marked so you can avoid the RR pics. http://www.pbase.com/n6nvr/ferndale&page=10

and we can't leave out the bodhisasquatcha

Burney Falls, where about half the flow was coming over the top after coming to the surface about a mile up the creek and the rest of the fall flow comes out of the fractured lower rock layer

John, instead of linking to your photos why not upload them onto the forum server?

| I'll probably upload RR and model rr pics to the forum server but the general interest stuff I send to PBase. I use it to get lots of pics to lots of folks. No need to take the time to upload to two servers. In any case, I'm paying for the PBase and there's no need to take the time to upload to both and add more traffic to the server here. I don't know how many I ended up posting, but in about a day and a half we took close to 300 pics of victorians. I took a batch of interesting building shots, that I may post here including an abandoned creamery. Mostly a matter of time, and I needed a reliable place to link from for some other purposes. |

The problem is (beyond not being able to see your photos) is if you remove, rename or whatever your photos on Pbase then the links here will no longer work.

I took the camera with me when the dog and I went out for a walk this morning. We got just a dusting of snow yesterday and now we have a nice clear (cold) morning, typical after a nor'easter. This caught my eye:
Autumn is absolutely my favorite season!

Oh, you didn't say that before. Can you see the link to the PBase Gallery?
Can anybody let me know if you are seeing them? I can see them, but that may be because I'm going from my home computer.
I've tried to upload to the forum server before and that didn't work out.
Lemmee go back to the how to post pics and try it again.
Can you see this one? It's posted on another pic site

John, I can see that picture but again, it is hosted on another website and it will disappear if that site changes. It really isn't that difficult to load photos to this forum's server if your read the instructions.

John, yes I can see the last picture you posted. The two main problems people have with posting pictures is file size and naming conventions. Make sure you pictures are no larger than 800 pixels on their longest side and saved at a medium resolution. File names can contain only letters and numbers.
Here's a thread with all the info: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27749
Here's a good example of why it's better to upload your pictures here instead of linking to them. This thread is now mostly useless since the link to the pictures no longer works: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14701 |
