Here is a pic I took this morning while driving through the Flint Hills of Kansas. I had to pull over to get this as I was watching it develope in my rear view mirror. The base was right over Emporia as I passed by, so this is from about 10 miles south.

Enjoy

That Alaskan scene might be some inspiration for John as a back country scene on his layout,

The cloud is impressive too.

This photo was taken from the vestibule of our train, Coast Starlight, travelling north from Los Angeles to Seattle. It's just south of Watsonville Jct, CA.

Enjoy,

I was at Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia a couple weeks ago taking pictures of their newly painted light house when I noticed this strange cloud formation.

I couldn't planned its location any better.

While visiting Bill Tweedy, I took this picture at Oak Bluffs Martha's Vineyard. These cottages are really something and inviting.

Some years the Mountain Laurel bushes in the yard are just loaded with blossoms. This was one of those years.

This really had nothing to do with RRs but after watching the History Channel segment on how the
earth was made, a geologist prompted me to find more about this boulder.

The markings on this rock are all natural.
The Univ. of Mass. head geologist said the boulder was formed of softer material and then cracked which were then filled with a harder quartzite.
Over time the remaining soft rock was worn away leaving the hard quartz filled cracks.
The patterns are very intriguing.
